Maybe they are filling all the transmissions to the proper level now? :D

Maybe! Another thing I've noticed is that the transmission "clunk" when cold is totally nonexistent on this truck.

    Yea, that would help.

Can’t wait to see the reports from other owners over the next few months.

Like most things, I think it’s a matter of the lens. Toyota May have changed absolutely nothing in the trans tuning but may have made a minor hardware change, for example. Maybe they dumbed down or turned off the “learning feature”, who knows.

I’m not going to call Mat a liar since IMO he has a pretty darn good track record of being honest and transparent, albeit a little too optimistic with his time estimates. And we all trust Toyota enough to have spent $30k+ on their trucks soooo...

Time will tell. In the next 3-6 months it will become clear if Toyota really fixed the automatic.

Could you assist me in which 2.0 tune I'm supposed to use? With the 1.5 there was like 3 options depending on your code. I want what's most similar to 93 performance gearlock. I ONLY care about power gains, and proper shifting. I like agressive twitchy tunes, as I drive exclusively tuned sportscars outside the tacoma. So the more agressive and responsive the better.

My truck has been driving great since 2017. Still drives great in 2019 with 34s and lift. Auto shifts like it is supposed to.

    Smooth as silk! Who knew???

So can we just buy a 2020 power driver seat and install in our 16/17/18/19 Tacos?

I was reading a thread where folks were saying the dealer wont even check transmission fluid for them. I imagine you'd have 0 chance of getting their help with something like this! I know from reading on here that some tall people had luck with taking foam out of the seat to get a little lower, but not sure beyond that of what can be done.

Of course you can! You could slap an LS in this bitch if you wanted to.

Where there’s a will there’s a way — and in this case, i imagine it’s a bolt on procedure - you’d just have to rig up some wiring. It’s not a memory seat, so there shouldn’t be a module - likely just power and ground going to the switch. Easy-peasy.

Karen's one luck bitch to be standing there. You missed the driver door by less than 5 feet.

Somebody on another thread said they were told by a parts manager that the seat will go for around $6k. I find that hard to believe, but then it is Toyota.

Test drove a 2020 today at my dealer. Overall it drives like a normal transmission, the gears don't hunt. Two points, first, on the freeway it didn't downshift to 5th gear on a slight to moderate incline like my 2019 does. Second, going up a hill, it downshifted one time, and stayed in that gear w/o hunting until topping the hill. Mine would have downshifted, upshifted, and then returned to the original downshift gear......annoying! There is definitely a difference with the 2020. Big improvement! I asked the service mgr if he could flash my 2019 w/ the new software.... he's checking. Will know more tomorrow.

Exactly the Same for me. My new 2020 truck does amazing on the highway, especially when compared to my 2018. It pulls really well in sixth and will hold 5th lot longer going up to moderate inclines. It drives very predictably at interstate speeds spending most of its time in 6th and 5th when needed with absolutely no gear hunting. It drives exactly how you think a truck should.
