2020 Tacoma "Audio Source USB 2?"

I found out it requires an OTG hub. This particular type of hub allows the phone with CarPlay to become the host device and the head unit the peripheral device. The standard hubs, and the one I used last night, are only wired for the phone with CarPlay to be the peripheral device and the head unit the host device.

I searched and didn't find any OTG hubs.

 

interesting, never heard of OTG hubs before, i had to look it up to see what OTG stood for.

would a splitter work on the OTG hub, or would that just take you back to square one?

 

I believe that would be back to square one.

 

So the 2 USB chargers in the center console storage box are CHARGE ONLY?

That's so dumb.

I'd much rather be able to use Apple Car Play and have my phone plugged in and tucked away in the center console.

All 3 USB hubs should be charge/data. It's 2021.

The 2018 Colorado I just traded in allowed me to run Apply Car Play from one USB port and plug in an USB drive in another for music.

This is just frustrating, the more I think about it. lol
