Hey guys, I finally got my dream truck, I bought my Tacoma on Monday. I got a 2020 sr5 with 12,000 miles. I fucking love it. But at the dealership I saw it had a backup camera and I was excited because I’ve only had cars my whole life, I didn’t back up at the dealership but after I bought it I saw the back up camera wasn’t working I went to check the owner manual and saw the back up camera wiring harness in there, I took apart the tail gate and saw the connector won’t fit. So now I am thinking the person who had it before added the camera but it’s finish the install, it’s an OEM camera right beside the tailgate handle, I was wondering is there a plug and play option for me, I don’t want to destroy everything and upgrade the stereo. Also if I have to take everything apart I was wondering if It is easy to install a front camera as again I’m not used to a truck. If anyone has any recommendations or anything I would appreciate it.

Looks like the original owner started and did not finish a modification. I have a 2020 SR5. It has a backup camera. Maybe you could find an OEM camera to replace what you have.

I installed a front mount camera on mine. Works great. Apparently some folks report the camera overheats if left on too long. I use it only for brief periods, so I can't say.

I haven't had to add in the rear camera (2019 SR5 had it from factory w/ sonar package too), but I've had to relocate it for a swingout bumper. That is not the OEM camera, not sure what Chinese knock-off that is. I might suggest what @azreb said and get the OEM, see if the wiring harness for the OEM camera is already installed (a lot of times the harness and everything is installed on all trucks but they don't install the module/button needed to use the feature), and try to go the OEM route. I also added the front camera like the post above, that wouldn't help with the rear camera but definitely a nice mod to have if you wheel.

Look under the rear bumper on the passenger's side. See if you have a connector that matches the ones you are showing (those are the plugs for when you remove the tailgate)

That is NOT the camera harness. That is the towing e-brake harness.
