    Hello everyone,

I am new to the world of Toyota, as my 2020 Tacoma Sport is my very first Toyota purchase ever. I really want to love this truck, but with less than 500 miles, I have already experienced a ton of issues. Aside from the noisy dash, which unbeknownst to me apparently comes standard in all Tacoma models, my frontend intermittently pops and cracks when steering and making turns. It’s loud and very noticeable. Has anyone else experienced this issue and did anyone find the culprit? I took it to Toyota once and they were of course unable to reproduce the issue.

I have a 2020 TRD OR DCSB and have not experienced either of your problems, either on, or off road. I wasn't even aware that it was a inherent problems with Tacomas. I'm sorry to hear you have had so many problems and I hope you are able to resolve them while the truck is still under warranty.

    Welcome to TW op. :hattip:

Every Toyota I’ve owned has had some kind of intermittent dash sounds.

Regarding your front end popping sound when turning, does it seem to happen more when you’re turning while driving, still and turning the wheel, or maybe going over a bump (like turning into a parking lot that is higher than the road)?

Also, how does the sound change if you have the window rolled down? Does it appear to come from one side in particular?

    Thanks for the post!

Front end popping: yes, mostly while driving and turning, but also while entering and backing out of driveways and slow mohving parking lot maneuvers. It happens with windows up and down, from both sides of the vehicle and at a range of speeds.

My 2018 has had this same pop on slow turns in and out of driveways early on. I have literally pulled apart the front suspension and carefully torqued and inspected everything. There is nothing wrong with the suspension at all. At ALL. Everything is tight with no contact. I have a very strong suspicion it is the front RH body mount under the radiator support. I checked it and it looks ok and is torqued properly, but I really think it's that body mount. Just a hunch. I think that some Gen 3s had body mount issues.

I proceeded to lift my truck and doing so Toyota wouldn't inspect the issue anymore and attributed it to the lift and I gave up.

Please, please, if you find anything please let us know what you find out.

The dash part, have someone with you in the passenger seat and poke and prod until you find it. Foind mine passenger side A pillar and literally 10 seconds to fix it

My 2020 recently started to make a a popping noise when going over speed bumps. It seems like it comes from the front right door or general area. I haven't had any issues until right now, sitting at 1087 miles.

Yeah, I found the dash issue. Just trying to figure out how to fix that. The passenger side dash where the speaker and air conditioning vent is, is rubbing against the A pillar. Toyota said they fixed it, but it started up as soon as I left the lot.

Ha yeah that's the same spot. I used double sided tape and slip it between. Made an annoying squeak when driving before. No issues since almost at 30k mi since

I have the same issue I have a 2020 Trd sport 4x4 and have been having the same problem, does your almost sound like a creaking noise? Mine seems to only come from the driver side. Took it to the dealership and they said it’s normal, but I feel it shouldn’t be making any noise for how new it is. I have less than 600 miles

Mine comes from tweeter cover on passenger side. only when it's cold (during the winter).

No popping from my front end OP. If it's easily replaceable, take it to the dealer and let them figure it out. That's the best part of buying something with a warranty.

I’ll have to look into that. It’s not really a squeaking though more like a creaking noise sometimes popping. Kinda sounds like it’s coming from suspension. It’s happens when I’m turning slowly for the most part and backing out of driveway turning into driveway. When I took it to the dealer they couldn’t get it to replicate the noise. I notice it does it a lot more once it gets under 3/4 tank. It’s not a constant thing while driving but it’s damn annoying lol

Have you tried snugging down those bolts to see if that helped?

Goodyear took mine off to run an alignment and left out the middle 2 spacer like the incompetent assholes they are.

Toyota wanted like $80 or something for 2 40mm spacers so I just left them off for now.

I get a distinct click when I twist the chassis that goes away after snugging.
