I recently went from a 2018 Off Road DCSB to a 2020. I've put about 500 city miles on the 2020 so far and in my opinion it does indeed have improved shifting over the stock 2018. In fact, running 91 octane and engaging ECT makes this truck drive almost, ALMOST as good as my 2018 with OVTune 1.05. I drove 25K miles in my old truck.

I haven't done any long highway driving or towing with the 2020 yet, so can't offer any opinion there at this time.

I’ve had my 2020 for 1k miles now and have felt the truck shifts smooth perfect and no issues. Yea the motor is a bit underpowered. For what it’s designed for it’s perfect. Traded my F150 ecoboost for it

Just got a 2019 TRD Sport and so far I'm getting what I expected coming from a sport SUV. I have to press down on the pedal much further to downshift or even to get going but I'm thinking that is the way it needs to be if it's designed like that.

So far, going up long hills on the freeway have been clean as far as downshifting also..

Have not tried cruise control yet.

total bs. my 16" was done to the most current software earlier this year. Seemed to correct most issues at first but they popped back up after a while. toyo corp called me about this when I complained and said that's the way the truck is supposed to be.
I love this truck off road it just works, putt putting around town its fine but every other week or so I go to another state and interstate driving sucks. I hate the programming. If Matt at ov tune can fix it you would think a multi billion dollar company like Toyota could do the same. Maybe they should hire real programmers not just mouse clickers. Just my opinion, guaranteed to me by the constitution of the UNITED STATES of AMERICA.

Just a thought but it probably has something to do with hitting those MPG numbers for the EPA? That's the trend lately.

That is definitely what’s going on. The companies have to hit the EPA numbers. I also think the butterfly on the throttle is definitely slowed in comparison to how hard you press the gas pedal. All this stuff is in programming along with the tall gearing and keeping the rpm’s low. This all adds up to a engine that feels sluggish when you don’t press the gas pedal harder. I will admit I’ve been running 91 octane and it does feel more responsive.

Your 2016 was updated to the most current software for that year model. Go test drive a 2020 truck. You’ll see a difference.

    The most recent software is
    Enginecal: 8966304B8000
    Trans cal: 896650410000

I'm still getting used to this gas pedal, it literally has probably an inch of play before I get any "thrust"..In contrast, my former Ford Edge sport had a very sensitive gas pedal, it would downshift when merging on the freeway easily and sometimes downshift too much for my liking...Now it's the opposite, but it's a truck so I get it..

Also, and just a thought here...with a truck made for off-road, you don't want a sensitive gas pedal or jumpy acceleration because that would send your wheels spinning too often...

I hear adding the pedal commando makes a world of difference for taco owners.

With all this EPA crap going on (these nutjobs really think we're gonna go fully electric by 2025), These issues will not get any better out of the factory, we're just gonna have to work around it....

Other than the issue with the gas pedal my 2019 shifts just fine. You would think with so many complaints Toyota would have an option or button to get a better gas pedal response. And dont bring up ECR button, it may give you more power but it doesn't improve gas pedal.

Pedal Commander took the “slop” out of my gas pedal.
I was on the fence but I gave it a try. Much better to drive now. Hell I even could move my seat back further. No more standing on the gas pedal.

no more HP, no faster. Just a better user interface.

I’m actually surprised you have it on your 2020. The pedal on mine is way better than my 2018.

Hmmm, the ECT button seems to alleviate that issue to me...or maybe it's just the higher RPMs that make it seem that way...

Makes me wonder if the 2020 accelerator pedal is the same P/N as the previous years of 3rd gens. Since everything else is apparently the same.

I don’t know if this has been mentioned, just can’t read through 10 pages to see. Just wanted to throw it out there that OVTune said there was zero code difference between the 2019 and 2020 transmission and ecu, and also zero difference between 0058 2018’s that have 04a61. That’s all I remember since I’m a 18 guy.

I had an 18 auto and traded it for an 01. Unless it’s manual, I can’t do the auto 3rd gen anymore. It needs re-gearing. Then it’s awesome. The 01 manual stock beats a 3rd gen in a drag race. So I supercharged my 01 and now it’s going around Silverados.

04a60? Did you get tsb 0058 or 0062 done on your 18?
