    That’s called an opinion
Why don’t you understand leasing? You don’t have to give it back. You may still buy it. And in the case of the Tacoma, it is often worth 3000 more than what you can buy it for. So if you don’t buy it, you can use that 3000 towards your next lease or purchase. Your opinions aren’t facts, that’s a fact. Educate yourself

You obviously don't get the 'lease' perspective. I'm not going to waste my time to elaborate how 'leasing' can be beneficial on certain situation because you will never get it. The point is, the OP asked about leasing payment on 2020 Toyota Tacoma. He/she wasn't looking for your uneducated opinion on if leasing is a good idea or not. Thank you for your contribution on this 'particular' discussion.

How is leasing a bad idea if you want a new vehicle every few years? Sounds like the best idea to me, but that's just my preference.

Why lease a vehicle that is so reliable. Because it had a high residual, and the payment is lower. Tacoma's are literally the best choice for a lease.

Saying leases are bad is like saying white Chicks are crazy, date a black chick or vice versa. It's entirely a preference and life decision. What do you value?

I personally value having a new vehicle every 3 years where I literally don't pay anything for maintenance wise. I guess one oil change.

I know so many people who don't lease and still get a new vehicle every few years. Talk about silly. I would never finance unless I'm keeping something for ten years. And I know that I will never do that.

Okay. And what is more expensive? Buying it, or leasing then buying?

Yeah but he probably wants a 2020 for all the obvious reasons.

It depends on how good you are at negotiating your deal and leveraging your money to make you more money. It also depends on what you mean when you say “buying”. Because some people classify financing into that category. And you didn’t buy it until you hold that title.

Cant speak for 2020's, but here are my 2019 lease numbers... I'm in Colorado and got my 19 Taco trd off road 4x4 with a 43k MSRP, sales price was about 37500, put 2500 down, lease payment including my 7% tax rate and fees is 264/mo. I think my residual is about 78% cant remember...

I currently lease my 2018 and will actually be selling it to vroom and picking a 2019 Pro in a couple weeks. This Pro deal kinda fell in my lap and was too good to pass up. OP definitely check out leasehackr and maybe go through a broker to get you a better deal, if you can do MSDs you could most likely get a 2020 for sub 300 with just first DAS.

It's an off road with the premium and tech package. Look around... theres lots of off roads that are loaded with a sticker north of 43k. Also, sticker only matters if that's what you paid.... I got a hefty discount.

Oh my bad, 42.2, not 43. Regardless that just seems like so much, why not get a pro, don't they sticker at 44? Idk about the 20s. What was the average sticker price raise from 19 to 20?

don't put any money down on a lease, What did they say was the RV for the vehicle? The dealer cant just change the msrp, were they trying to sale the truck at msrp and then drop the sale price to 42? I personal wouldn't pay more than 10% off msrp, but that may be difficult in your market on such a new truck

Do you know of anyone that discounts a trd pro for over 5k??? This is why I didn't get a pro, but I have pretty much everything the pro has on my off road.

I’m getting 15% off on a 2019 Pro. It can happen, especially when a new model comes out you can get deals on the previous year hold overs.

Obviously leasing then buying is more expensive. You’re essentially paying interest for 8 years (assuming a 3 year lease and 5 years financing). If I remember correctly, it was under $1k when I worked the numbers both ways.

If your payment is half leasing (then financing) versus financing outright and take the difference to pay your mortgage down you’ll save more in interest on your mortgage over eight years then the extra interest you spend on the lease/financing.

I traded in my 2016 earlier this year for 29,500. Assuming trade in is similar in 2022, if I trade in the 2019 (residual at $26xxx) i will have spent between $3500-4000 plus tax and interest over 3 years.

Does leasing cost more? Yes. But depending on what you do with your finances it allows flexibility that a higher car payment won’t.

You hit it pretty solid with this post. The only correction would be on the initial lease you don’t pay interest on the residual value.
