Cold mornings feels like you’re shifting stone gears but once it’s warmed up it is pleasantly smooth to shift.

Interesting that’s good to know, they’re still quite raw from what I have seen and that’s definitely not a bad thing!

Will agree on that for sure. Good luck downshifting to 2nd when she is cold.

It's like the stick is planted in a bucket of gravel on cold mornings lol.
Then you have the lazy pedal return if it's cold enough. Fortunately that too goes away fairly quickly.

Downshifting that low and cold is not applicable for these units.

It sounds to me like when you push the clutch in at a light and wiggle it left to right to make sure you are in neutral. Almost like the clutch locks in the play they built in the tranny so it’s easier to find each gear.

For what it’s worth, AMSOIL has been incredible for my MT in all temps. I used Redline and a mobile prior, AMSOIL provided a significant improvement in shifting.

I am in agreement with all these MT observations. What does the tune you used help with in these areas?

And also, anyone else find it hard to get into 2nd/3rd without a little tinge of grind, unless I wait a hair and gently slip into those gears sometimes. Definitely don’t feel like I can just pulled the shifter boom into 2nd or 3rd.

Mostly like the OP just wanna see if this my incompetence and/or of I’m fking up my truck >O :). Only got a 1k on mine.

Now that I think about it when I had my silverado it had a similar clunk on the 1-2 shift under lucky throttle and the general forum consensus to fix it was to grade the slip joint on the driveshaft. Granted they were all autos but at the very least it can't really hurt anything. Also @manncura yeah at low RPM shifts my 2-3 is a bit grindy. Everything about these trucks like to be around up to 4k or more and then it's buttery smooth. Also try letting off the gas roughly halfway into depressing the clutch to create a bit of rev hang. I've said it before and I promise once you get the footwork right it shifts so much better.

Thanks. I was just noticing that the subtl grind going into 2/3 is def mitigated if I wait a little longer than I am used to (so lik 3/4 K rpms) ...i will have to commit to That . Just very different than a dinky old 5 sp man corolla that was my last stick years ago

Yeah don't be afraid to experiment with footwork and timing your shifts. This taco, plus the first gen I used to have as well as my 06 LJ with a Merc transmission and 91 XJ with an AX 15 all were funky going into third too fast and low RPMs.

OVtune helps with getting access to available torque down low. It's still not a stump puller, but I find I can be in a higher gear at a lower RPM than with the stock calibration.
Yeah, both the 16 and this 19 were a bit grindy at first 2-3. As others have said, it breaks in real nice.

I am excited to get the OVtune. Does the truck try and revert back to its original setup from the dealer due to any adaptive software ingrained in the ecu? --- I also could drive the truck the way it is now, no problemo, for the next 200k and be perfectly happy :).

I wouldn't say it tries to revert back to stock config. The ECU does "learn" over time/mileage though, things like knock correction and idle airflow etc. The driving experience definitely changes from the time you perform a flash through a few hundred km. You will get some "stupid" behaviour right away (surging, throttle response weirdness), but that clears up within 25 km or so. After that the changes are subtle.

Interesting. I tuned about a 1000km ago and it just gets better and better. SFOB is fantastic, even my borla sounds better.

It did drive very jerky right after the flash though but i expected that. Its just like when you disconnect the battery on any vehicle.
