2020 Tacoma OEM LED Headlight Megathread

It’s probably an ok price so you just have to decide if you want to chase down a tab on a halogen unit, cut it off, and attach it to the LED one. That’s probably worth around $200 as well in parts and labor, more if you pay someone to do it, less if you DIY.

 

Question, I just installed the OEM LED's on my 2018 TRD Pro with the retrofitsource wiring harness. Every single light turns on and works other than the driver side low beam. It's driving me nuts. The high beam, drl, and side marker all works. What could be the cause other than maybe a faulty headlight from Toyota?

 

Most likely you have low beam polarity wrong or the terminal has trouble.

post a photo of it. Driver side low beam Oem is red for positive and all grounds are white w black on the truck side. The TRS harness photos I’ve seen all use the same color for both sides and black is always ground.

 

Also check fuses. My TRS harness more or less matched wire color with OEM.

 

Could be an issue with your harness. Double check connections to make sure they're tight. Also, check for pinched wires. A faulty headlight could be a possibility, but I'd bet it's a wiring issue.

 

I just watched up to what they said online. Thought it was pretty fool proof. The entire passenger side works perfectly. The driver side everything works except for the low beam. High beam, drl, and side marker works perfect. Checked a fuse and that seemed ok but idk.

 

That's what I'm wondering now...I have no pinched wires...just seems like something is off. I hate electrical issues. Drives me nuts lol.

 

Ok. It's what happened to me. Plugged headlight in backwards and blew a fuse. Flipped the plug, replaced the fuse and bam.

 

Yes a definite weakness of tying all grounds together.

 

For sure. If I had paid more attention it wouldn't have happened.

I am using the TRS Harness on a 2018 TRD OR. After I hooked everything up, the DRL lights will not turn on unless the stalk is turned to parking lights. They will not turn on if the stalk is set to DRL. Anyone have any ideas?

 

@caribe makaira is there a DRL specific fuse?

 

I suspect you may be mistaking the dim lighting of the DRL when the parking lights are switched on with actual full bright DRL which seems to not be working at all.

But none for the SR/SR5 with 3 wire Turn connectors.

 

That is possible, but at any rate the DRLs are definitely not turning on. I’ll look for a fuse in the morning.
