Yeah we don't really need any help with DRL, the wire as provided is 100% fine. We only need help with turns. The turns override the DRL so it doesn't matter if DRL is flashing, 12v or ground while turn is on for that side.

We just need clean turn without drl on L and R sides. That's the headache. I can push him on BE1 if that's an option, I thought the only viable route was to the rear taillight. I'm still not convinced an average Joe is going to successfully tap a relay box, lots of ways to mess that up.

No tapping a relay box, an added stand-alone relay, one wire from cab. one wire to each headlamp.

Either one is an equal upgrade. There’s chrome either way if that’s what you’re debating.

Personally I'd pay more and mount more stuff to the engine bay for the ease of installation than having to run 2 long wires across the frame, but maybe that's because my skill level is at hooking up plug and play sockets. I can live with delays and flashing.

What other benefit does running long wires have compared to the timer and relay? Maybe longevity as timer and relay eventually will fail and wires, if done right, last way longer?

Yeah, this matches our assumptions as well, thanks for confirming.

I am not too worried about the duty cycle of the relay and timer though if the timer were to fail then you would lose DRL and I think parking light on the C.

I'm mostly focused on exploring options to reduce cost b/c SR buyers in particular might be cost conscious. A secondary goal would be to reduce bulk but this isn't massive bulk so that's more a nice to have.

If we could bring the SR harness into the $100 range I think I'd feel pretty satisfied. Right now the timers and relay along with extra labor make that out of reach and it sucks to pay more for a truck which costs less to purchase.

While I have no idea about all the technical wiring stuff y’all are taking about I just want to say I appreciate your plug and play great quality and works perfectly!

There are always cheaper and just as effective illumination mods to remedy the non LED factory headlights.

Honestly, I think anyone who is dropping $1.3k on the OEM LED is not going to be price sensitive to the additional cost of the harness. Their priority is good, reliable, quality product.

Very true after the headlight cost the harness price was very minuscule.

I think I watched your video last night sir, very thorough and confidence inspiring. Thanks for documenting and uploading it.

In my mind I'm rehearsing and choreographing the entire process. I'm not worried about wiring harnesses, I'm terrified about prying off the bumper corners to reveal that 10mm. Luckily the next couple weeks the weather's bad in central TX I'll find a nice sunny day to do it. You said it can be done in an hour, I bet it'll take me a whole day if I can pull it off at all.

Thanks buddy for watching! Yep the worst part really is those corners it sounds terrible, but as long as you don’t break the fender flare clips Dave includes the 2 of the blues that may break and they are easy to change out they look like they just push out.

I'll bug Johnny about EB1, thanks for that detail. The relay for DRL is completely unnecessary, the headlights disregard the DRL input when the turn is active so the combined DRL + Turn is 100% ok to use for the DRL lead, it just can't be used directly to feed the turn.

Hence the required relay. In order to have the LED headlights to operate as OEM as possible you require a DRL input.
