^A lot of people seem to be having issues with the TRS harness. I haven’t read a single bad review of Mike’s harness though.

I would have gone that route but I had a gift card. After seeing these gasket I’ll probably go that route lol.

I installed mine this week using Mike's harness which I ordered months ago. It was, is, and likely will forever be a thing of beauty.

The only imperfection I had harness-wise was with trying to use the OEM plastic L harness tab / hole which previously secured the OEM harness. I untaped and removed those plastic L's intending to reuse for the octopus end of the conversion harness but there wasn't enough play to make that work so I left a big bundle taped together with some low-adhesive heat-resistant harness tape and a few zip ties. I'm not really worried about it but it just feels sort of bulky and sloppy to me right now compared to the harness itself.

The OCD in me would love to have a piece of plastic which could serve as a 5 finger tab to hold each of the 5 connectors, perhaps with a zip tie or something for each one, so that all that bulk is organized and secure.

It seems to be such a common issue, and an easy fix, surprise to see TRS do nothing to fix it. They will send you replacements, but it will just send up having the same problem.

I used kept my OEM harness tabs and clips. Just let the whole nest of wires dangle below the headlight, behind the fog lights. Gives it a clean look, since only one wire comes up.

Got them all installed and working. Had to de-pin and flip the wires as previously mentioned but other than that the headlights themselves are awesome. Had a minor freak out at first because I had load equalizing resistors for the LED flasher bulbs and when I turned on the turn signals they only would flash once. I removed the resistors and all is well. @no vtec 4me killed it with blacking out the internals and bezels! His work is absolutely excellent, the headlights looked factory +.

I agree it looks cleaner, but I like to strain relief all my wires, I worry all that weight pulling on the one connector may compromise it over time.

Same thing, that way it doesn't bundle up near the water tank, getting drench in water from rain or puddles and just sitting there. At least if it dangles, it doesn't allow water to build up.

Same pic as when i previously showed how a ratcheting wrench would fit.

My wiring actually kind of hangs on a zip tie near the connection.

Right below the plug, there is this house shape piece, it has a little lip where i can zip tie the harness to.

Anyone in Canada installed this oem led headlights? I am thinking of either going to morimoto xb or this oem. Also how does the aftermarket harness work in Canadian vehicles with DRL always on?

They work great with mikes wiring harness. The DRLs are on all the time, but they are LED, so they should be fine. The only difference Ive noticed from what I’ve read on here, is that the fogs and DRLs don’t work at the same time. Meaning if you have the park lights on, and switch on the fog lights, the DRLs turn off. Im thinking it must be due to the different switch on Canadian trucks. Not really a big deal in my opinion though.

My DRLs works with the park lights and fog lights at the same time? Or is that only a Canadian thing?

Not sure. I’m thinking it’s something to do with our switch. We only get Auto, Park and On.

I installed mine this past weekend.

Now that I look back, I’m wondering if I reinstalled one part correctly.

On the bottom of the headlight bracket toward the middle of the vehicle there is a small little notch that fit very tightly into a grooved channel. Both sides protruded out of this channel a very small amount after installing. Looking at videos on YouTube, none of the others at least on video seemed to fit so snugly. I’m wondering if I forced this piece into this little channel/groove by accident or if I am losing my mind. I can post a picture if this doesn’t make sense. Everything came back together nicely so I think I got it right but it’s bugging me.

    thanks!

Yeah, I know what you're talking about. Toward the center of the grille / radiator area. It should just slide in and sit there. At least mine did fit smooth, no force at all. If it's not set right the lights might angle a bit odd making weird light patterns

@no vtec 4me did a killer job on these. They change the appearance of the truck completely. Blacking out the bezel and divider was a good call!

Man, that’s perfect. That’s what Toyota should have done for the Pro instead of the logos, it would have made my decision easy.

    Looks great.

    Thanks.

I hate branding and I hate chrome, the pro headlights are the worst of both! I stripped all the badges and all the chrome off the truck and it looked so much cleaner. The “TRD” “PRO” badges in bright chrome was just way too cheesy, I don’t know what Toyota was thinking when they did that one. The performance of the headlights is awesome, they got that right for sure!
