2020 Tacoma superwhite with what looks like paint failure. Tried some polish but it’s not going anywhere. Anyone else having issues on their 2019/2020

I wouldn’t call that paint failure, that panel looks like the paint might have not been NOT done right, or possibly some moisture.
Should be warranty. The hood will probably need to be repainted I would think.

Hmm not sure. It doesn’t look like the typical super white paint flake issue but never know. Sorry OP!

Sorry, somebody burnt through. You can see the rings of the coats. Maybe not you but maybe the dealer.

The rings are suspicious but the OP's statement that the hood had 2 chalky dull spots is also suspicious that someone was messing with the paint before the OP. Yes that leaves the dealer unless the OP has had the truck "detailed" at some point.

Toyota and white paint have a storied past…
Check with the dealer on a warranty claim, it should be covered. Make sure to take it to a dealer with a Toyota certified body shop attached to it.

The problem with that is "he said" "she said" and who knows who burnt through the paint.

I would clean as much of that compound off as possible and not say a word about you doing anything to the paint if you bring it in. They will do everything and anything to shuck the blame onto you and deny a warranty claim.

That’s always the dealer game though. I’ve had to start so many toyo corporate cases just to get them to listen, it’s ridiculous.

No. I make sure not to park under or anywhere near trees. I’m paranoid about my paint. I showed the pic to a buddy’s dad who’s been painting cars forever and showed him what I used and he said there’s no way it would’ve come from me. Told me the same thing to take it to the dealership. Just hoping they’ll take care of it. I’ve used the same polish around the rest of the truck with no problems. Only had it a year and 4 months

Sounds like you have a problem. I have owned 14 Toyotas over 42 years... new. I have never had to start a "case."

OP, check other panels too, especially roof. There maybe more spots.

Did you do this outside ? Anytime you do wax always have the vehicle inside a garage or covering . Those look like damage from the buffer . Why I never use electric buffer only by hand .
