CC should work in 4 low regardless of incline or decline. Even on setting one. CC shouldn’t cancel unless you stop it, or over drive it. What it’s meant for really, slow crawling uphill, downhill, etc. Are you getting all the electronic brake booster noise when you engage it?

interested to see what the deal is... mine works with no issues. just be glad you tested it while it's under warranty :p I wonder how many people have driven past warranty expiration without ever using CC lol

It seems to be a change made to the 2020's. As I mentioned, the salesman was surprised when it wouldn't climb the hill he frequently uses during test drives. He suggested taking the truck I ultimately bought back to the lot and grabbing a second 2020. Both of them did the exact same thing.

I'm interested to see what OP's dealer finds.

Well shoot, is this only being reported in the 2020's? I have a 19 OR, I'll go try it if I can find a suitable location nearby. What kind of angle are we talking about? Does it still register on the read out on the pitch display on the dash?

Not too steep, certainly nothing that I'd normally feel inclined to use CC. I'll try to go out and test it later today to get a better sense. I'll check with the pitch and roll screen.

One of the TFL truck guys had an issue with the crawl control on a 2020 Tacoma. It starts around the 5 minute mark in this video:

Yep, exactly except without the articulation or any wheel slip.

That’s weird in the video that it stops on that hill. Considering mine will just keep going regardless of the speed. Went up a steep hill today, good uneven muddy 30+degrees and CC worked and even when it gets stuck the wheels keep spinning. Something wrong on the 20s then.

    I will check mine tomorrow.

I know my 18 and 19 had no issues.

Went out and tested today, same results as before...

Here is the hill and how far CC will make it:

    CC active and pitch display:

CC set to 5 and stopped on the hill:

CC message after 15 to 20 seconds of being stopped:

CC worked as expected on flat and backing down. I don't know if it is normal, but the middle traction control light flashes when CC is active and stops flashing when just in 4Lo.

Checked my Crawl Control, and it is working fine no issues. I tested by putting from 2WD through the motion into 4L and crawl control all while on a 8% grade. Climbed like a champ. I hope you are able to get yours figured out.

So glad that I can mechanically drop my Rubicon into 4 low and engage both lockers and not have to worry about fancy, schmancy dial controls.

Good luck with getting it fixed. Hope the dealer does you right.

I don't think they are having issues with getting into 4lo or engaging the locker.....

Right. It's the gimmicky crawl control.
My point was everything is computer controlled, push button this and that. Turn a knob this way or that way. "Convenience" features.
More stuff to go wrong. In every vehicle, not just in Toyota.

    Build date?

The Rubicon I traded for my Tacoma had no issue going 2H -> 4H -> 2L -> 4L and the lockers worked fine as well. The Tacoma does all the same functions minus 2L and front locker (for now) and in much better comfort. I haven't put it through its paces, but I don't foresee any issues driving it in any of those settings. CC is a feature, but not a make or break item for me.

JL's have a small issue going into 4 low. It's hit and miss. It's a bitch doing it from a stand still. You have to be rolling at 1-4 mph.

Did you come from a JK?was it like that in that model as well?
