Where can I get a 2020 Tacoma service manual? The parts department at my local Toyota dealer says there is no such thing. I would prefer a printed manual, but even a PDF manual would be better than nothing.

(I'm in the southwestern part of the United States.)

Also, this is my first post. I've been a lurker up until now. Is there a search help page or something similar for this site? I searched for the phrase "2020 service manual" (without the quotes) and didn't get any relevant results. I'm sure I'm not the first one to ask about this—so I assume I must not be using the search correctly. Thanks.

I have owner's manuals, both the printed manual in the glove box and a PDF copy on my laptop.

When I'm off-road somewhere or even on-road but remote, if something goes wrong it's up to me to fix it with whatever I have with me. I don't always have cell service. I'm looking for things like wiring diagrams or other information that might be useful in a pinch. I still have lots of time left on my warranty, so I'm not too worried about something going wrong around town.

I don't worry about problems too much—my last Tacoma (first gen, 1998) lasted me 23 years and almost 400 K miles with no major problems and very few minor problems, mostly replacing normal wear parts. It still runs great. I gave it to my grandson when I got my new truck.

I also like browsing through technical manuals to understand how things work. :)

Service manual is now 1000's of pdf pages. No physical copies.

Pay for TIS for a week, the best info is under NCF "new car features" and you can read in depth descriptions of all systems from the 3rd gen, 2016 and onwards.

I hate that Toyota no longer does the printed manuals - they used to have the best ones I've ever used. Detailed, step by step instructions for any repair you would ever do to your vehicle. They were expensive, but well worth the investment, if you planned to hang on to your ride for a long time.

After paying for a one month subscription, I now have most of what I'd anticipate needing in an offline and accessible format.

If I knew what I'd be looking at beforehand, I probably could have done the shorter time span. You're not going to easily download everything, but not so you need to. I grabbed full wiring diagrams both in SVG and PDF formats (the PDFs are very easy to automate. There are only about 50 pages.) I also downloaded the TSBs and other bulletins I thought could be useful. Much of the rest is service procedures and pinpoint tests. I might eat my words, but I see those as being less useful. If I need specific information for a test or procedure in the future that I can't find a YouTube video on, then I'll pay to access TIS. It will cost significantly less than taking it to a shop and I'll probably do a better job.

I'd love to sell the stuff I have in a nice convenient format just to recoup my own expenses, but something tells me I'd be receiving a nasty letter from some high end law firm before too long.

Oh, and that massive tome that's freely available is useless compared to TIS. There may be a few gems in there, but it doesn't have a complete wiring diagram or full component locations.

I always used to get Haynes manuals for my cars… then 30 years ago I did a 3 year apprenticeship and subsequently 7 more years in a workshop and thus found them pretty basic.
    This was before OBD’s.
I completely understand why there’s nearly 12,000 pages in this service guide… cars have changed!

So have mountain bikes… just bought first bike in 20 years, where did the front derailleur go?

Shifting a mountain bike on tricky narrow paths is harder with 3 rings on the front ... too much adjusting after rear after the front shifted. Now is simple up/down, with more expensive bikes fitting 15 gears on the rear wheel.

Also the brakes ... calipers/discs. Older bikes cannot fit calipers because the mounting points do not exists AND the angles on the frame at the forks on older will not allow calipers anyway. To boot ... the presence of the calipers may prevent carrying the newest bikes on older fork-mount bike racks.

And ... just when you thought it was safe to get back in the water (anyone old enough to remember that?) ... the frame geometry has lengthened and the geometry of the tubes have advanced to handle mountain trails that would destroy mountain bikes from from 20 years ago.

Sorry ... were you just spouting and not expecting a complete discussion? :p

Is that the 2016 version service manual. If so I already have it and don’t want to download what I already have.
    Thanks!

Believe me, between 12 years old and 21 I rode my bike every day. I had a new 1991 Diamond Back Axis which I owned for 20 odd years and modified it along the way. That bike and me were at one, it fitted like a glove.
10 years and some later and a different continent I’m in Bend OR and have to buy a bike because, we’ll it’s Bend and it’s MTB heaven. My wife was simple, I found a 3 year old used Ghost fs that was basically brand new (still had the little mound hairs on the tires) and in her fav color for $500, great deal.
I was a little fussier, new generation geometry just didn’t feel right to me and I prefer more cross country than dh. I’ve always ridden with no suspension so I love the rigid feel, but, I’m now 43 and not as supple as I used to be. I Ended up settling on a 2012 Specialized Camber. It’s an early 29er, fs, with a front derailleur… not new geometry but not old, somewhere in the middle, it also fits me great and the suspension can be locked out so I don’t have full squish all the time.
I do miss my old sub 20lb bike but I do defiantly appreciate the ability to roll over boulders and drop off ledges and let the bike soak it up.
I’m happy with my 27 gears and even happier now that I cut a few inches off of the handle bars.
What I don’t like is the way the disc brakes squeal like crazy with any sort of moisture :(

Unless I misread the picture, you have a dropper post ... one of the nicest advances in bicycle technology. At least on the black bike. I can only count 3 cables off the handlebars on the blue, though I may be wrong.

Not yet but it’s on the list. My bike has external routing so it’s doable…
