Who knows? I figured they'd be up by now. Looks like they are still pumping out 2019's.

if thats the case, just pay the 1300 and get the trs headlights and save yourself 700 bones. still has that wrap around leds to look like a 2020 at first glance but the performance between the two is not even a comparison.

Is there any relative data on how the new 2020 led headlights perform? Or are we just taking a wild guess?

Aside from performance, Toyota’s design looks much cleaner.

true. the 2020 housing is a lot cleaner looking, but if were talking real world experience on performance i have a guess that itll perform close to that of the 2018+ sequoia led headlights. i have a trd sport sequoia with the updated front end, and while it looks and performs way the hell better than what was offered before; the throw is clean but seems dim (if thats the right word). these leds headlights do leave a lot to be desired on the road at night, but coupled with the oem led fogs then its adequate enough. during the day? they look phenomenal with that dtrl. just being straight up.

These also look identical to the LED/reflector housing of the Honda Accord, does anybody know how those perform? We have a Lexus NX with the triple beam LED headlights and those are some of the crispest, brightest output LED headlights I've ever experienced. I have a feeling these reflector style won't even come close.

It will not. Although reflectors based LEDs are better than the older halogen, they will not compare to a quality projector+bulb.

Do you have a source or insider knowledge on that? Or are you just guessing?

if you want a pretty good example of led technology in a projector based housings then the 2018 corolla (that gen bodystyle) would be a damn good contender. the cutoff, throw, and color band was better than anything anyone else could offer at that price point.

The led's have light 38 meters longer and 10 meters wider than the present lights. This is according to the chief engineer for Tacoma.

Read it in an online review of the truck - honestly cannot remember which one. The date suggested was August 16th.

Anyone know if the led headlight is only standard equipment on the pro?

i doubt it. while the pro has a backlit 'trd pro' moniker on the bottom portion of the headlights, theres also another variant of the same headlight where its blank in that same location. my guess is gonna be that the updated headlights will be standard on all trd models and the lesser trims will recieve the old trd model headlights with led dtrl.

Toyota might ditch the projector lens on the halogen lamps, only because then 2020 LED headlights are not projectors.

Directly from my source at toyota, there are 2019 tacomas scheduled to be built at the factories on August 20 2019 still. I don’t know if the website will have 2020 configurator anytime soon

    Couple things from this...
    • First time hearing of increased side window thickness to decrease road/wind noises.
    • Again mentioning the transmission improvements. I thought maybe they were just referring to the recent TSBs now being stock in the 2020, but sounds like they may have redone it again and improved it even more. I wonder if they'll put out a TSB/update for older models to get this.
    • Sounds like the MTM will have a couple different views depending if you are in 4Lo, 4Hi, etc. and can be set to automatically switch on below certain speeds.
    • Can switch to built-in nav while still using Apple CarPlay (and hopefully Android Auto). Useful if you have no signal or you just don't want to chew up battery/data on your phone and want basic nav.
    • Speaking of nav, they didn't say it in this video but saw/heard elsewhere that it will dynamically update maps. No more waiting for updates and stupid high prices to get a new SD card from the dealer!
Argh, put this up for order Toyota!

Also excited to hear 1/2 inch lower seat with the new power seat, giving you 1/2 inch more head room.
