I could have sworn I've seen it somewhere that Toyota dealerships are not allowed to do markups over MSRP. That, if they do, they will not receive special edition (TRD PRO) vehicles in the future. This is a Toyota rule. Can't remember where I read that though.....

I mean they might get a slap on the wrist or lower priority or quantity on the allocation list, but I doubt they get blacklisted. Ironically if they get less Pros thats going to make them want to mark it up even more to get the biggest ROI. Look at what they did marking up Supras or that some dealerships require Pro VIN's for Pro parts and others don't care and it's sales driven. I know that Honda gives you a mix of the desirables and undesirables and won't send more until you've sold everything.

My salesman wanted a $500 deposit to place the order, but I've seen posts from others who've been able to place orders with dealerships that they've worked with before without having to place a deposit. On the other hand, I've heard of people having to drop upwards of $2k to place an order. But most were in the $500 range like me.

I don't know when I'll be getting the truck. All I've got is an email from Gulf States Toyota Supply team to my dealer stating that my order has been accepted & placed on the December production order, which means the truck will be built sometime in December. At some point, I'm not sure when, my dealership will get a VIN & be able to start tracking the process & give me better info on delivery date.

I see that you're Air Force, not sure where you're stationed stateside. My dealership serves a major Army base and my salesman is retired, I would imagine that they've dealt with deployed customers before. I can reach out to him & see if he can help you. I can PM you what he tells me.

They do have a tour in San Antonio, apparently. A friend of mine did it. You can see the whole build process, minus the painting. I'm told that part is locked down like a sterile lab to prevent paint imperfections

Could we get some interior shots? Also the MTM camera in action if you got them? How's the transmission? Great truck!

Great looking truck. If you don't mind me asking, what options and how much did you end up purchasing it for?

Without the MTM and LED headlights you are essentially a power seat and head unit away from a 2019. Curious the thought process for some when the refresh items aren't capitalized on as much especially when you can get arguably get a better packaged 2019 at that point.

Don't forget that "keep the key in your pocket" function on the passenger side with the 2020's!

And the chrome tail lights and light grey 2 tone interior :annoyed:

Is that key function with all trims or is it part of a package?

First one doesn't register with me because us manual guys don't have that luxury of fancy touch-less entry or push button start.

For the chrome taillights and two tone interior I'm sure someone here with a 2020 would swap them with a 2019 in a heartbeat if they had the chance (assuming the cushions/covers swap with power vs non power easily)

The biggest refreshed items to a lot of folks are probably the power seats and the addition of android auto and apple carplay :notsure:.

I personally don't care all that much for leather heated seats, dual zone climate control, backup sensors, etc... and would take better seat adjustability and android auto on the 2020 over a 2019 with premium/tech. Hence why my ideal model would be a base 2020 OR with just LED lights. Looks like 2020 OR's can be had for thousands under msrp as well so the price difference isn't as much as people think.

So here is a stupid question based on the interface that I've seen for Apple and Android features on the 2020. Why is there a cable still involved? Is this not bluetooth compatible? The idea of keeping a cable in a new truck to me is almost taking a step back. Especially since there is wireless charging.

Yeah but the wireless charging in our trucks absolutely sucks... the tech for wireless CarPlay and android auto is still getting better. It’ll be a little bit of time before auto manufacturers start adopting the new tech

blutooth is not capable of driving the entire screen. (The phone is doing all of the work) the few wireless CarPlay headunits actually set up a local WiFi connection to do the work and have been notoriously flakey.

I wish it was wireless, but if apple is still pushing a wired solution after bravely wading through HeadphoneGate, you know it’s a technical one...

Very few manufacturers offer wireless carplay support (BMW has it and requires a subscription) with none of them having wireless android auto support.

How reliable are the wireless options on aftermarket units?
