    That's a good start. Why stop if they keep throwing offers. These dealers in my area are throwing petty offers like 100 off the previous dealer's quote. Got one today at 250 off the previous dealer but whatever. If it inches towards my goal then so be it.

    Exactly, they will stop at some price point. I'm at 4193 under MSRP (9.05%) for lowest first round offer.

    That's impressive for something right off the bat. I guess the stealerships in my region are just really stingy.

    Could be. Also if you fill out the form on their site and refuse to give a number they may think they aren't the only dealer involved. I can imagine some sales people know of the tactic I am using and may have had it used against them.

    What's the end goal here? I guess to get as much off as possible, but at some point don't you just want to order a truck? Maybe as I get older, a few bucks here and there doesn't really matter provided I get good service and convenience. I'm not going 500 miles to get a Tacoma just because it was an extra $1000 off.

    Part of that is as we age the perceived as well the actual value of time goes up.

    I would be/am willing to:
    • Trade in my Taco on a new one rather than private sale it where I could get quite possibly get $1-2K more.
    • Pay 1 - 2K more for a new Taco with:
      • The convenience of purchasing < 2 hour drive
      • < 2 hours of:
        • paperwork
        • haggling
        • waiting for "dealer prep"
        • Other dealership B-S
    Notice each one of these items are time sinks.

    I am similarly inclined - have been for years. Generally, after I do some research I set a "comfort" range of what I'm willing to pay for a vehicle based on my wanting to get a fair price while understanding that the dealer ultimately needs to make a profit as well. Once I get the price into the comfort range, I may try to get a few extras thrown in but I'm not going to haggle for hours over anything.

    I agree to what was said above. It all depends on what is valuable to you. For me it is my time and wage. If 500 miles is worth the drive because you saved X amount of money over the gas and time spent then good for you. But if dropping an extra one to two grand because it saves you time and hassle then good for you as well.

    I also like to factor in my wage. If I make X amount of money (I like to use minimum wage) in Y amount of hours traveled to drive up there then is it really worth it? But at the end of the day it's where you want to make ends meet, agreeing with the dealer in the middle, and from there is my goal because that extra money saved can be used elsewhere. That's just me at least.

    I literally have nothing better to do after work right now so this is a fun venture for me. I tried to get my local dealer to get me a price and they wouldn't so here I am talking to 52 dealers to start.

    Had the paint correction and ceramic coating put on today. Probably the cleanest it will ever be. I’ll enjoy it while I can.

    Also, here’s a closer shot of the wheels for those interested. I’ll be selling mine once they are removed and available for sell (tires too). Looking at the first week in November before I time to get it all done. Have a few ppl interested already, just don’t know what to ask for them price wise to be honest. Numbers are all over the place.

    I have a buddy that owns a body shop. He and I did it today. Really easy to apply. Can definitely tell the difference, to the touch from coated and non-coated. He recommended Avalon King and that’s what we used. Cost me some beer to get it done. And me helping of course. One of us applying and the other going behind and buffing it out.
