I’ve heard everything from $1k-2k. Feel like $1k is selling them cheap. But you can get most after market wheels for that price. And $2k seems high, but that’s what they’ll be going for from Toyota direct from past experience. Plus there is already a company making knockoff versions of the wheels in the ~$800 range.

So I thought I narrowed it down to the best price and made the mistake today by going in to my local dealer. I showed proof of the lowest price and they said they can't go below their invoice of 41,872. Out the door price with TTL is 44,988 for them. They also caught onto what I did with the dealers and said they will just bring in the exact OR (that everyone has been going on a bid war on) since their sister dealership which is two hours away has it. Can they actually do this? I feel like they are trying to control the market by keeping it in their possession and trap me into getting it to end this bid war lol.

Dealerships can trade with others, I imagine sister ones can equally swap inventory if necessary. The one where I bought my 2nd gen got a fully loaded 19 or dclb from their sister dealership after it was done being used as a service vehicle. Not sure why the sister dealership didn't keep it.

None have caught on yet what I've done but I've had a couple refuse to deal over email and expect me to come in.

Going in is a bad idea to negotiate. Go into test drive or sign the paper work. If you are a great negotiator in person probably not a bad idea but I am not good in perosm but online I do fine.

Never show your cards. Set a price you are willing to pay and stick to it. It must be reasonable.

Keep in mind your idea of reasonable isn’t necessarily so right now. Early in the model year with high demand, and low inventory, favors the dealer.

    That will change soon.

^^^ I agree to both of you. My mistake for actually coming in. But can they actually grab that specific taco and hold it in their dealership to control the market on it?

It does for any item someone is selling. They can set the price and rules around buying it. Now, if they want to sell the item, the market will typically influence how flexible they will be.

I understand the effects but I want to know are they allowed to get that specific truck from another dealer with no potential buyers?

Of course they can. Dealers trade vehicles all the time. Since it is owned by the same company they can bring it over and hide it where ever they like. Patience is the key they are going to build lots of these trucks.

Funny how they want to grab the vehicle and stow it away when the other dealership who gave me a lower offer is another of their sister company that is only 2 hours away. This right here is where I see them trying to control the market in my area. Fine with me, I bet it will look good on their show room for a good amount of time.

I may be confused. What is the sticker price of the truck? What sales price were you provided?

From the dealership I visited in person:
    45,562 MSRP
44,988 Out the Door with TTL

    From their sister dealership:
    41,500 MSRP

If it’s the same truck, MSRP does not change.

What was the sales price at each dealer before TTL?

    Yeah same truck, I misunderstood.

    42,812 and 41,500 respectively.

$1300 is a big difference. Whoever has the inventory obviously controls the price, and they may have dealer traded to do a different deal you aren’t aware of.

Or, they could just be some shady mother fuckers. Thankfully if someone pulls a stunt like this in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, there are a ton of other dealers. I’d walk and think nothing of it.

    Dealer traded?

Agreed. One reason why I walked away is why can't they beat or at least honor that 41,500 from their own sister company. And the other reason is I felt threatened when they said they would just get that exact VB OR from the dealer to prevent any other dealers from getting it. They would keep it in their showroom with them saying "either you buy it or someone else will." I'm sure it will be a nice addition to their show room alongside their VB 19 Pro that has been collecting dust.

I sent an email to the dealer who offered 41,500 to see if they can even get the taco after what the first shady dealer said.

I would go $2,000 with tires. If you have to break them to get the sensors then sell them separately. $700 tires. $1495 wheels.

It’s early, no shame in getting top dollar for them. They are beautiful wheels made by BBS. Heck, they will probably run $1,400 a set or more straight from the dealer being name brand and so light. And you will likely need a vin. Don’t see these as being as available as the last Pro Wheels.

Better off dealing with a member or Craigslist person. Ebay will take 10%. PayPal will get a bite. Tax on top nowadays.

    Avoid ebay.
