I have the Undercover Flex on my Taco, which I chose due to the lower price point and a discount option available at the time I ordered.

Looks and function are almost identical to the MX4. The BIG difference for those considering one vs the other (unless Undercover has made changes to the mount design) is that the mounting system that Undercover has covers almost the entire rail on both sides. For me this was not a big issue as I came from a 1st gen and never had the use of the rails so I did not find that I missed something I had not previously had. I did add D-rings to each mounting bolt so each side now has 3 tie down points that my prior Taco did not have.

Where are you guys finding your 2020s with the LEDs. Ordering all of them? I’m looking in the Phoenix area, 5-6 dealerships, each with 40-60 new Tacoma’s. Seems like each dealership has 1 or 2 if that, they’re never the right options or only with premium or only 2wd etc.
I assumed a high percentage of the new Tacoma’s would have the new headlights but around me it’s slim pickings. Plus, the salespeople usually have no idea what I’m talking about and they assure me “yeah they all have led drls.” :smack:

Maybe it depends by region but I ordered mine in the NE no issue. Also a lot of the allocated trucks to the NE had them as an option but not on the specific truck I was looking for so I just ordered exactly what I wanted..

I had the same problem, and the answer I got from the dealer, Toyota CS and seems around here is that the led options are all local market based. I’m in NY/NJ. The dealer explained they limit the market because fewer Tacomas are sold here, and they want to keep the factory installed options beyond the trim level to a minimum in case the sale falls through and they have to move the truck. Makes sense to me. I wasn’t prepared to make it a deal breaker because the projectors actually aren’t that bad at all- they may even be superior. The only other option that may not be able to be included is the multi terrain monitor, but I’m also not heartbroken about it considering the frequently reported lack of quality.

Yes, you will have to order it as it is an optional package. Most of them are clueless about LED headlamps so they would pitch you with the line like oh it comes with the "LF" code for LED DRLs, hoping to sell you a truck. Tell them it is the "LG" code for LED headlamps so they will know what you're talking about.

Really really contemplating whether or not to trade in my '19 for a '20. I've got an OR now without tech/prem packages currently, and done a bunch to it with aftermarket goodies that I would most likely put about 95% back to stock in a weekend or two.

If I go for a 2020, I think I'd shoot for another OR but this time a DCLB with prem/tech/advance packages so I can get the heated leather seats, new head unit, and multi cam system. In all honesty, I'd love to have a PRO longbed, which sadly doesn't exist. Would try and look for a Voodoo, Cement, or Barcelona again. Feel like finding an OR DCLB with all those options is going to be difficult.

Yep, I’ve emailed them asking if they have any model code 7544s with option package lg. They always say yes they have it (the dealers who don’t post real pictures or window stickers) and then I show up and find they they either have no idea what I’m talking about or they think LF means LG.

This is because a lot of the 2020 packages are not configurable with the new LEDs unless you custom order a truck. You can see this on the Toyota website. In my case, I bought a 2020 TRD Sport with the Premium and AdvTech packages and you simply cannot get the LED lights on this specific config using the website, and none of the several lots I visited had this config. This is technically the most expensive Sport model configuration but it lacks the LEDs? But if you configure a Sport online with just the Tech package (not advtech with 360 camera, etc) then it comes with the LED lights? The whole thing is kind of silly.

And I had a similar issue with my sales guy. My sales guy was really nice but he was kind of clueless on a lot of the 2020 stuff. He says, "Oh yeah, it has the new LEDs this year." Okay, cool, except I didn't catch on the window sticker he printed out for me that it was only saying "LED DRL" like past years. When the truck was brought over from the other dealer (in trade) I noticed the issue right away. The sales guy still didn't know what I was talking about. I had to walk him out to another Tacoma on the lot and show him the difference in the headlights. :frusty: I decided to buy the truck anyway as it had all the other options I wanted and they worked with me pretty good on the deal, but man....a lot of these guys are not up to speed on the 2020 mid-cycle changes. He also didn't show me several of the new updates my truck has (I had a 2016 before). For example, I had no idea there was an app for Toyota when I drove off, and that my 2020 Sport has remote start (with app and key-fob both). I figured those out myself at home. :woot:

Thankfully I can just add the LED headlights myself. It's a little bit of work, but in the end the truck will have all the OEM options I wanted so I'll be happy. And I must say that I absolutely love the 360 pano camera option so I'm glad I went that route. I wouldn't want to have given that up just to get the LED lights, especially knowing they can be added easily....unlike the 360 camera.

I suppose you could try to special order a truck and wait for it. It sounds like if you do that you can basically get the headlights in any configuration. But the ones coming in bulk don't seem to have them in a lot of packages.

Virtually none of the dealers I spoke with (12 of them) had any idea about the LED headlights in any way. Blew my mind since it was all over the facelift press but you guys called it right about clueless dealers. You need to be absolutely on point, the $485 will get you the headlights, the other LED option will not (sorry, dont know the option codes). That's why there are 3 Tacomas like I would have ordered, but without the led headlights, in stock near me... at dealers I contacted but they didnt understand. They all showed up within a week of each other too.

I was early on the jump of when you could really order them. I was told a week ago that mine was built but still at the factory. I'm so glad I stuck to my guns about getting the LED headlights, even though I've had to wait.

Its exactly how I wanted it to be and it has my name on it, that's a cool feeling. I've had quite a few cars and even ordered company cars through work but this is different because it's really mine to keep.

TRD Offroad DCSB, manual trans, super white, tech & premium, black/gunmetal, LED headlights, interior/exterior LEDs, power tailgate lock and black tailgate letters. The rest I'll do on my own later. 9.2% under msrp, I'm ok with that on a legitimate just-for-me order.. I'm so damn excited.

Nice ride and congrats on the new addition. Are they doing those tire upgrades standard on Pro's now or is that a dealer upgraded item?
