    Based on the following link provided by @FL_TRD Sport:

    This link basically says you can go with a 255/70-17 inch tire without any problems based on a 265/65-18 which is 31.56" tall and 10.43" wide.

    If you convert that to your 17" wheels and tires, a 255/70-17 would be narrower at 10.04" wide and 1/2" taller at a diameter of 32.06".

    A 255/70-17 would be almost 1.5" taller than the 265/65-17's you are currently running and a little more than a 1/4" narrower. You would, however, have a 1/4" more sidewall that the tire you are currently which would give you a nice ride.

    If it were me, I would ask the tire shop you work with to test fit a 255/75-17. I've read about a fair number of people her on TacomaWorld running this tire size. This tire is only 1/2" taller in diameter but from the outside edge of the tire only 1/4" in closer to any one potential rubbing problem. The fact that the 255/75/17 is 1/4" narrower than the largest recommended tire means that as long as the "offset" of your aftermarket wheels move the tire out and away from the frame, chassis, and wheel-well you should be fine.

    OE Tacoma wheels typically with 265/65-17 wheels from the factory are fairly tight, as in close to the wheel-wells, chassis, and frame so I doubt your aftermarket wheels tuck the wheels and tires in closer. I like a little wider tire but the 255/75-17's would be a nice looking and riding combination. There is also nothing wrong with 255/70-17's either :thumbsup:

    If this is a one owner truck, I wouldn't be concerned. If the truck has had multifple owners, I guess it's possible that the last person to drive it heard or discovered something they were concerned with and sold it because of the ~100K miles. A warranty is a lot to spend for peace of mind on a truck that has close to, if not the best, resale value of any vehicle on the road because of reliability. The fact is that if your Tacoma looks and drives like it was maintained properly, you can almost be guaranteed another 40K miles. Your truck, again properly maintained, and unless you have an "unusual" Tacoma is likely good for 200K+ if you don't beat it even if you stopped maintaining is altogether.

    Again, if it were me, I would go to a mechanic you trust and ask him if there is evidence that truck has been well maintained. A trashed truck can be cleaned up to look great but there would still be cosmetic signs of abuse. And, for example, there are 5 zerk fittings in the driveline of a Tacoma that if they show evidence of grease, and if the front axles under the CV joint boots are dry, my bet would be the truck has been maintained :thumbsup:

    Thanks for the info! Lately Iv been thinking about a 2” all around lift and 255/80/17 tires. I’d like a little bit taller of a tire.

    I've got a 2" lift on my truck. If you are an avid offroader, don't listen to me but if this truck is your daily driver and maybe a some off road for fishing and hunting, I've got a couple of suggestings if your interested.

    I think it is to turn the power off for the door openers that way it kills the green light on the mirror. I think not sure and I have the same mirror on my 2021 Sport. I noticed in the pic of the op that there is this TRD badge on the side door, it must be a mod cause mine does not have that badge. just saying

    I don’t do nearly as much off-roading as I used to. It’s a daily driver and I do end up on muddy rutted out roads the odd time going to fishing spots, but mostly on the pavement these days. I’m definitely interested in suggestions. I lifted my 2012 Tacoma but don’t know much about lifting the newer models. I’m thinking 2” all around and some tire around 33” in size.

    hoping I can just do taller front struts and add a leaf in the back.

    Their is a lengthy thread about 255s , 255 80 17 seem to be popular and mixed results on rubbing, I think a huge factor is wheels offset , from what I can tell the stock wheels have better luck and the more negative offset, the more likely you are to rub with that size . And goodbye fuel economy, but hello smiles per gallon

    I’m looking to get new rims and use the current ones for winter tires so hopefully be able to find the right ones that won’t cause rub.

    What’s everyone’s suggested best tire setup for dealing with snow? From deep snow to couple inches, to packed snow, to ice? Does a min lift help or actually hurt in snow conditions?

    Skinny studded real winter tires will be the best. Not all seasons. And the lift shouldn’t affect the traction. Wider tire will be worse than skinny.

    I have no complaints with Nokian studded tires

    Going to pull a trigger on a 3” lift and spc upper control arms..

    any one have any insight on weather or not 285/80/17 would fit without rub with my wheel? It’s 17x8.5 says nothing about offset on the website so I assume 0.

    supposed to be 33.1” tall and 10” wide..the falken wildpeak at3w

    Got the lift on. 3” Ironman lift with 255/80/17 falken wildpeaks. I’m looking for mud flaps like the ones in the second pic. Those are husky and are discontinued apparently. Does anyone make a similar mud flap?
