Do the power seats offer much higher and lower seat positions than originals seats. I’m more interested in height improvement.

Moreover, you can change the angle and get thigh support!

If i keep my accursed Taco i will definitely be adding this down the road

Depends on how the wiring is connected to the main harness

I like it so far. Much better than what I had in the Gen2.

    Absolutely

No it doesn’t. You could run your own power & ground to the switch like you would an aftermarket light

if they have memory it gets a little bit more complicated, and also the OEM controllers can be a pain to deal with. It’s not nearly as simple as aftermarket power seats or a switch, but still doable, you just might have to source some aftermarket parts. Modern OEM units are not usually as simply as a few motors with limit switches like aftermarket power seats or OEM units of ~20 years ago.

The 2020 Tacoma power seat has 2 wires going to it: power and ground, but you're right, there are other wires going to the seat, but all in all I suspect it wouldn't be too bad to wire up.

it’s not a memory seat. And judging by how archaic a lot of the other tech is on this truck, i’d be surprised if there were modules involved rather than the switch handling the load

The other wires to the seat are for the airbag and the seat heater if optioned. If you do this swap or play with the seat harness, watch for the airbag connector. It will be unique and self shorting. Do not try to probe it with a meter trying to figure out what it is or does!

This is not what I found on my test drive of the 2020. I actually think it had less headroom by about 1/2 from my 16. Both had sunroof & cloth seats. I was disappointed as I really wanted the power seat to be lower than my 16 but that just was not the case. The thigh support was better though as you can raise the front edge of the seat but then I run into the issue of my knee getting close to the steering wheel.

Height is close to 2" of range, down travel is much more limited. However I will say, in my mind, the overall position in the 3rd gen is better than the 2nd gen. I no longer feel like I'm sitting on top of the truck in my 2020, though my issue is that I'm 6'4". The bottom cushion movement is nice as well, as you can mitigate the feeling of your legs resting straight out towards the firewall.

can't convert 2017 to power seats. not just a wire harness issue. dealership told me the bolt pattern is different as well

Jeez folks....if you want power seats buy a new one. I've had numerous vehicles...and the only time I've bothered to change the seats is if I had something in the rear...usually people.
    First World stuff really....and yes...I'm drinkingo_O
