Id bet the tech drained the Trans fluid instead.:fingerscrossed: hopefully, that's all it is. I haven't seen many posts, if any on Trans failure.

A lot of third gens come low on transmission fluid from the factory. Its also important to keep in mind that the dealer wants to change a transmission, they get a bunch of man hours to bill and toyota corporate foots the bill. All they did to trouble shoot was look at the fluid and test drive it. The transmission may very well be fine, but they want to do the change.

Regardless, I'd be stoked that they're actually handling it.

I literally only have a Tacoma because Chevy refused to make good on my failing transmission in my '17 Colorado. I loved that truck, but it was in the shop FIVE times at 30k miles. They never replaced anything and only changed fluids, reflashes, etc. Last time, they emptied the fluid and didn't fill it all the way. Led to major shifting issues and being stuck on the side of the road. They still refused to make anything right, so I traded it in after they added more fluid and another flash.

8k miles on my Tacoma and I couldn't be happier.
