Just did it! I didn’t remove the TSS though. I just cut enough to wrap around the edge and used one of those cards with felt on it to wrap around it.

I have plenty of the tint though so it if messes up I’ll redo it and take out the TSS.

    Looks pretty good! 186321D9-AD9A-4676-9963-6E7797370A4E.jpg

Looks great, did you paint your grill? That wrap matches the metallic fleck on the original grill perfectly

Makes a big difference to the front end doesn't it!

Haha. Yeah, I was thinking to myself (I wish the tint was blacker instead of grey-ish. Lol. But, it still looks a lot better than without it!

I’m thinking about throwing some of it on one of my taillights to see how it looks. I have plenty of it and will never use it for anything else. :)

My only fear is someone would rear end me and then say they couldn’t see my brake lights bc of it. Even though I have bright ass LEDs in there.

Yep, police would notice it too. This guy did clear plastidip over chrome and it came out pretty cool. I wonder what it would like on the clear rear lights? or even one coat of black then clear, just to take the edge off of them...

Just as legal as spraying your lights with plastidip. I highly doubt those lamp units have SAE-DOT approval...

Hi there! Does anyone know where can I get the TEQ emblem for this same grille?

What's TEQ mean? Never did figure that out.

    Did a little research,

TOYOTA in Japanese characters is 3 symbols, and it just happens to kinda look like TEQ in Roman characters. So the original Toyota logo was stylized Kanji that made it look even more like Roman characters, leading to it being assumed in western land that the logo was TEQ. Since then others have applied a backstory to it saying it stands for Technology since it’s phonetically like TECH, but that’s probably not true.

Damn Mwrood...Nice Taco. That things POPS. So, give us some details. Did you in fact paint the grill or dip it? The black (metallic?) works! What tint/material did you use on your emblem? And most of all, what detector is that. Love the low profile (matte black?) look. Don't care if it's a tape down to the hood.

Thanks man! For the grill, I painted it with basic matte black spray paint from Lowe’s. I think it was rustoleum. Whatever you get, just make sure it says it sticks to plastic. All I did was take that grill part out (videos on the internet on how to remove it). Cleaned it with some soap and water. Let it dry. Then out on like 4 coats. I haven’t noticed a single chip in it since doing it about 4 months ago.

For the TSS tint, I used https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0725RT1QS?ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title

To be honest, I wasn’t too happy with the way it looked since it had kind of a metallic look to it. I ended up getting a different vinyl decal (picture below) and it turned out great. No issues at all with it. The guy I got it from uses Instagram and it’s @c_mento_taco_808. I think he’s on here too, but I’m not sure of his username.

For the deflector, below is the one I got (matte black). Just sticks right on with double sided tape. It hasn’t budged and probably never will.

Well done! The new decal matches patina much better...damn thing looks stock! And, I see you have the Raptors lights for OEM grill. You know what we need now, right...a pic at dusk with the Raptor lights on.

BTW: Just picked up my Voodoo Blue OR. Very stoked to start mods. Great looking truck @mwrood

I want to say it was like $25, which included super quick shipping from Hawaii. Kind of pricey, but it’s really good quality vinyl. Not sure if you’ve ever messed with vinyl, but the cheap kind of hard to work with, wjnkles don’t really come out, etc.

I think the price just depends on which one you get. I know he had some more “custom” ones. Or his pricing just went up. It’s well worth it though, especially if you like the matte black look.

Mine is in the mail currently, the pricing when I inquired and purchased, was $20 for basic script or block TEQ any color combo, custom designs started at $25 and go up from there. Shipping w/o tracking was only $1.20, shipping with tracking was a bit more. Really cool guy to work with!

I would guess that the reason snow/water causes a problem is that it is not flat and smooth but rather bumpy--causing the TSS signals to be distorted. I would bet that flat vinyl coverings are not a problem because of the frequency of the signal that Toyota Safety Sense (TSS) use--those frequencies just pass right through the vinyl (whether it is clear or not) so long as the vinyl is generally the same thickness all over.
