Regardless of how you choose to conduct yourself online, I hope your truck never dies at speed on a busy interstate - it's no fun.

@GOTSAND?18 yeah I am grateful it was able to be repaired so quickly. I understand things happen, even on brand new vehicles, but damn I could use a break ya know?

I feel ya .. it’s frustrating . Glad everything worked out for you . Honestly think we all have to high expectations of these trucks lol . My truck has been in the dealership more time than I can count for random stuff since new .

Lemon law would only apply if it was the same issue . All I had was minor stuff . Door ,windows, differential howl . Whistling noises . Nothing major mechanical stuff .

Haven't read it all, hope I'm not repeating...
But if they found a true OEM mechanical malfunction, then Toyota should pay the whole bill including the tow. If it had been something you caused then of course things change.

Sorry about the $475 out of pocket expense. I haven't checked myself yet, but I know some manufactures warrantys offer trip interruption insurance up to $600, maybe that is an option for you? my Saab had it, it was a life saver.

You hit the nail on the head. My 97 4runner purred like a kitten until I sold it at 297k many years ago - I like to think it's still out there on the road somewhere haha. Toyota really impressed me with that one.

It’s weird how some trucks are more troublesome then others; I’ve had my ‘20 Taco a year and it hasn’t been back to the dealer since the night I bought it.

EDIT I just checked Toyota’s recall site; no active recalls for my ‘20 or ‘93 Toyota’s.

I think it should be expected that there will be vehicular failures in this day and age with how much technology is being packed into these trucks and just vehicles overall. While I love Toyotas, they aren't the same as they were back in 1st/2nd (didn't some 2nd gens have fuel pump issues?) gens. 1st gens were certainly reliable but even my Dad had nothin but problems when he bought a 1st gen 4runner, shortly after he went back to Tacomas. 1st gens overall have been proven quite well but that won't necessarily carry over from generation to generation as vehicle "progress" is made.

Sorry to hear you had to go through all of that and it sucks that others will go through similar in the future.

Interested in how Toyota responds. When my wife's Subaru battery died inside of YellowStone within warranty I called Subura of America when we got back home
and while on the phone Emailed a copy of the receipt for the new battery I had to buy. Before the phone call ended the person on the other end Emailed me back a
copy of the check I was going to receive to pay for the battery. To boot they sent me a bunch of Subaru swag for my troubles.

THAT is service. I suspect Toyota will pay for the tow. If not I'd be very disappointed.

Within 6 months? I thought toyota gave you a road side service warranty for a year. I'd just document the tow charge, and present it to toyota.

Sorry to hear this op. I had a similar thing happen to me (not in the Tacoma) because rats/mice had chewed through the main wiring harness. Pretty scary.

In any case, this is the fuel pump recall that might apply to your truck: 20TA02. There are a lot of models affected. I had it completed a month or so back. Good luck.

From my understanding, the fuel pump is a well known recall, although very few people have actually experienced issues with it before having the recall done. It's possible yours had a recalled one installed from factory or sometimes it's just flukey. Toyota is known for reliability, but that doesn't necessarily mean perfect. Down side to buying used is you don't always know what you're getting. Upside is that someone else had to deal with the initial factory screwups and hopefully took care of them.

I've had a fuel pump cut out on the highway before, in an ice storm no less. It's not much fun! But the vehicle was also about 17 years old at the time and luckily was an easy fix that merely triggered the fuel pump and not the fuel pump itself.

Good response to an obvious troll OP.

A classless dumbass of a troll, but still a troll to be sure.
