Toyota really needs to step up their color option game though. Some of the offerings for the Tacoma are pretty freakin lame. I bought my OR this past February in quicksand. If I had waited till 2020 to buy, the only thing acceptable to me would have been the pro in army green. There is no OR color that appeals to me in 2020.

Still they sell a ton of them so what do I know?

I'm pretty sure the Japanese word for Green is "midori". Pretty sure it's named "Army Green" solely for the American market ,as that name wouldn't mean anything to a person in Japan.

Its not Japanese. Its made in San Antonio by American workers with many of the parts built by Americans from different states. Probably more American than "the big three".

I mean even though the Tacoma is exclusive to North America and overseen by Toyota USA its parent company is still stemming from a culture and business background that is way more conservative in approach and execution. Let's be real these Tacomas practically sell themselves so the pressure to change the status quo isn't there either. It would be crazy and not out of the realm of possibility that they drop some Big Bird yellow like they did with the FJ Cruiser as well as the newly release Supra to make a statement. Either that or start doing two toned like they have on some current refreshes.

Exactly, but why such a tiny difference if you're going to change it at all. Should've went to a LED unit instead like every other manufacturer is doing on their vehicles. Lol.

I believe the point he was making is that the Taco is not built in Japan and basically is an American vehicle - more so than the big three really. You’re talking about where the color originated which is speculative and in that context really doesn’t mean squat.

I mean.... I was just commenting on the fact that there has been a lot of discussion about how "Army Green" isn't really the green the US army uses.

I think the context of that vehicle being designed and built in Japan is pretty relevant. Why would it be the same as the US Army? The Taco is an american vehicle, yes, however they're recycling fj cruiser colors. Every one of those colors was picked by the Japanese in japan for the fj cruiser well over 10 years ago.
