Well I finally got the truck I always wanted a 2020 TRD Pro but was shocked by how stiff the suspension was. Now I get this is the off road king so please don’t knock me and say well you should expect a rough ride but it road like crap on road. I unfortunately live the lame state of Illinois so off roading is only on trips so 99% of the time on on the road. Many already know the Pro is so much more than the suspension the interior is far nicer, LED Lightning, cool hood and better stereo. So I wanted it for these reasons.
I know a truck rides like a truck but this one rode like a dump truck every little bump on the highway was painful. I read all I could made several calls and realized a 2.5 Coilover is just to much for a daily driver so I bought a set of 5100 with OME 885 and can’t believe how much smoother the ride is, I mean night and day. I gained 1/2 in the front too which was a plus and still within specs for the stock upper control arms.
I’m mainly writing this in case someone like is out there and loves all the extras a Pro comes with but needs a smoother ride. I was lucky and a local dealer was offering $5k off since they were slow so it to me was a no brainer.
I will keep the pro suspension on the shelf so I don’t loose any trade in value in the future but man am I glad I switched.

Welcome to the forum! Congrats on the truck and lift!

Sorry to hear the suspension rode too rough. I have always been under the impression that the Fox suspension on the Pros are great and have the ride feel between a Sport and Offroad trims. Not too stiff (sport) and not too soft (Offroad).

I thought that was going to be case too but a short test ride doesn’t tell all. Overall I’m happy with the truck and even more now with the new suspension. Live and learn just glad for a few hundred I now have just what I wanted.

Mine felt super rough at first...
Then I saw the tires were inflated to 45 psi.

Really though, if I was just driving around town I would have bought something else. It might feel a little stiff (it gets softer once it breaks in) on the road but it is much more comfortable offroad.

Yep I dropped mine to 28 all around and still didn’t do it for me.
The odd thing was the 5100 with the 885 coils was about 1/2 shorter in overall length but I gained 1/2 inch overall.
im starting to think the new set up actually uses the spring to hold up the truck where the TRD Pro Fox lifted by a much stronger short since its a 2.5
When I hit the breaks hard the front end never moved at all now it drops just a bit, not like a nose dive but it’s not stiff where it moves.

    :p

Did you just get them? New springs will settle at least a half an inch. Give it 500-1000 miles, you’ll probably need to get it realigned.

Btw, congratulations on your neutered Pro! :p

This has always been my thoughts as well in my limited experience in a Pro truck. I'm sure it's great on speed bumps at 45 MPH, or high speed off roads adventures, but it just wasn't for me. I have a second gen Pro setup, and I can't say I have ever loved it either for the same firm feeling. Other than the lack of brake dive on the Pro setup which I do like, for me the stock OR setup was better.

That being said, I myself wouldn't buy the pro and swap in some 5100's.

you should have given it time to break in, love the ride in my Pro, not harsh at all, just added a front 1 1/2 spacer and 1 in rear block, rides even better, rides super smooth

How is the interior on the Pro "far nicer"? Isn't it exactly the same as every other TRD taco other than the shifter being slightly larger?

Sorry to say but the fake leather sucks in these Tacomas, plus the sunroofs looses headroom. I got a DCLB and added my own leather and heated seats and Bilstein 5100 and couldn't be happier. I don't see a Pro having nicer interior, now my new Limited 4runner has a better quality leather.

Never said mine was better! Simply put that the seats in the new Tacoma is fake leather, no other way around it. It's something you need to look into and find out for yourself, it's the true facts.
