supposedly 2020 pros is the ones that come equipped with the black tipped trd exhaust vs the regular polished tipped one. im not asking about the other toyota accessories black exhaust tip either (the one with the toyota logo on top) cause thats an entirely different finish than the black on the trd. my question is this, how is your black chrome holding up? i heard theres issues of that badboy flaking and peeling after certain amount of time. whereas the polished one looks good time after time. i have mine coming in tomorrow, just seeing real world experience cause 2020s been out for a bit. thanks in advance.

Bunch of people have the black ones now. I don’t recall seeing any issues with the finish, but even if it does, it’s easy to swap out for a new one and it’s only about $50 bucks

That's a welded on tip and Toyota doesn't sell just the tip. So an aftermarket will be needed or have the tip powder coated.

Mine is welded on as well. Its only 2 weeks old or so though, so no issues to speak of.

thanks for the input guys. yeah the trd exhaust tip (black chrome and polished) is welded on. the toyota accessories black exhaust tip is bolt on. i dont think you can even buy just the trd tip without it being taken from another trd exhaust.

I have a 19 OR with the port installed TRD exhaust. I assume its the same tip but not 100% sure on that. Anyway it looks like shit after one winter in Chicago. Don't mind the dust but all those little marks are pitting.

One day when I'm not lazy I'll try to clean it and see what happens.

@RX1cobra: thats crazy. might have to go with some 3000grit sandpaper and polish that puppy back to life lol...assuming thats stainless and not black chrome. i dont even know how to care for that finish. getting apprehensive about it now. when i go pick it up im thinking i might just have them switch it out for the original stainless version. way easier to care for.

It's the black chrome tip. I have nothing to prove this but I think it may be from soap at the car wash. My theory is that the tip is hot and the soap hits it and does something to the coating. Best I can come up with... I have mud flaps too.

To add I got this truck in June of 19. Before it's first winter this started. It got worse over the winter because I wash the truck more often to get the salt off.

Edit: When I go back in for my last "free" oil change I'm going to ask about it.
