Why? They eating your fish? Or an accident you witnessed while sailing the high seas of the Eastern Seaboard?

Metric tire sizes are calculated very different than the conventional "33x10.50" inch sized tires we are commonly used to. A 255/85/16 (33.1x10 in inches) is a different size all together compared to a 255/85/17 (34.1x10 in inches). Metric sizes take into account the size of the rim into the overall dimensions. Hope that makes sense. The rim offset between the factory Toyota 16 and 17 inch rims is the same so that's not a factor with rubbing.

Why did they put a fake skewp on the P51?

OMG... lol... this has gotten so out of hand. The scoop on the P51 is anything but fake. Airmac was just using it as a reference to looks. The scoop plays a crucial role in the performance of the plane... but, it also looks awesome because of it. I think that was his point.

I’m pretty sure it was fake. Made the Germans think it was faster than it was, so they didn’t challenge it.

I vaguely remember something about earlier versions being fake. But, the P51 that won the war did not have a fake scoop. It was very much functional using the "Meredith effect"

I just want to point out (since this thread has already gone off the rails), the Meredith effect on the P51 mustang basically gave it a mini "jet" for extra thrust. For that time-period, that plane... it really is one the greatest airplane fighters to come out of that era.

Okay- I will stop. Please forgive me, but one last thing. The P-51D was so bad-ass it also shot down several Me- 262 out of the air. For those who know nothing about aviation/WWII History. The Me-262 was the German Jet fighter. So yea, Skewps/ Scoops (however you want to spell them) are cool functional or not.

Yeah for sure. I was mostly kidding. I didn’t know some were fake. That wasn’t uncommon nonetheless. I recall some Sherman’s tanks had fake tubes welded to their barrels to make them look like the up-gunned Sherman Firefly, when in fact they had the old, less powerful gun.

I'll take Form over Function in a woman. But in my vehicles I prefer Function over Form. Ideally it would be both.

And yes besides the SR-71 the P51 Mustang is the sexiest plane ever built.
