Want to add something like this OEM plastic storage box in my LB Taco driver side inside the box. Mine has space but no box. Anyone know where I can find one?
I understand they do not stay dry and water tight, I am after the storage space that they provide.
Ive tried using the search function in the buy sell forums but I never have luck using that tool.

I do like the “Tuff” box (below) online that’s deeper but it’s made of steel and it comes with a cheesy little keyed lock. I would like something with a latch that doesn’t require a key.
I guess worst comes to worst I will have to make my own aluminum but don’t really have time for that......92345A8C-54D3-4BBE-A289-9B77316DC95A.jpg

I was looking to do the same thing. I tried some of the online salvage places but didn’t have any luck.

If you happen to find a place selling them let me know!

I would think twice before adding the OEM box. Toyota deleted these for a reason, and it wasn't just cost saving. The way the box is designed, it's a source of water and dust leaks, and it's very hard to seal it properly. I have a cubby on the passenger side only, and I sometimes wish it wasn't there. It's really not useful for storing much of anything. This is certainly not dry storage.

If you really want one, the best way would be to cruise the junkyards.

I use my passenger side lots. Keep my ratchet straps there but need just a little more. It’s never leaked neither inside the box or the storage compartment. I should probably mention I do have the OEM tonneau cover so not super exposed to weather.....not water tight but not wide open.
Nothing a little urethane chalk can’t fix I’m sure.
You can get some pretty fine fitment rubber seal gaskets too for the door and do some custom fidgeting to make yours water tight.
I’d much rather have the space than not due to the risk of a little water.
Unfortunately the salvage yards in my area are pretty bare but thanks for the tip.

With all the nightmare stories I’ve heard about leaking OEM roof racks really kept me from installing them though. A wet headliner is the last thing I have time to deal with. I can deal with a few wet tools

This is very true. I have both boxes and cant really put anything metal in them. I have a tow strap in one and my bed cleats in the other. Im guessing the tow strap will be junk pretty soon between getting wet and staying wet.

Same here. Anything of much value I don’t keep in there either. Anything that I really want to keep dry goes behind or under the rear seats. Mine work great for ratchet straps and bungees, I keep them in zip lock bags too and this works fine.

If you want to order, I asked Jeff Langefor the part numbers a few days ago, here's what he sent me:

64742-04010 - Box, Deck Side Trim LH
64074-04011 - Cover, DeckSide Box LH

Check Ebay, I saw a couple on there when I was looking.

The source of water / dust leaks in the cubbies is the splashing up from below (because the area between the bed and outer fender is open to the pavement). Mike Williams' "cubby caps" are superior to the DIY solution in the above URL. But, they are tricky to install. (They have to be glued in place with the cubby already in position.) And, you have to plug the drain holes. Or, you could put a good rubber gasket on the door and reconcile yourself to everything within the cubby being wet.

I tried that one year, but the bag wore a hole through it real fast from vibration and dust in the cubby.

The Ridgeline’s trunk doesn’t leak at all. Even first gen owners still don’t get leaks.

You can hear nightmare stories about anything. You have to determine which are faulty engineering and which are install errors. Most of the online chatter I read dissing products I eventually buy seems to be due to user errors. In this case there’s no reason it can’t be done leak free unless the channels are rusted out. Finding someone who gives a shit do the job is step one and why I do mostly diy mods.
