How good the helicopter shots are in Portugal...wow. Just good camerawork and piloting.

Would have been so awesome if Ham went for fastest lap too and F'd it up

My drive to todays gig was about as exciting as most of todays race, 75 mile round trip, average 25mpg both ways

Did Honda turn down the power unit for this race as pretty sad when the RB could not pass the Merc even with DRS. Gasly was complaining of a lack of power. After Monaco I fully expect Mercedes/Ham to be crushing the field. What ever updates Merc did seem to be working very well.

Hopefully Perez can keep up the pace for the whole season, If the two RB's can consistantly split the Mercs the Constructors race could be interesting.

Except for Bottas who almost lost to both RB and botched a P1 start to finish 3rd and is losing to Lando in the Championship points. Lando is showing he too, along with Russel have more talent than Bottas.

So far that seems to be the most interesting thing to watch in what is shaping up to be a very interesting season.

Bottas was disappointing. I mean... with DRS he was gonna get passed eventually even being in first at the start - he just doesn't show he can keep a lead by consistently running fast lap times. Being passed by Verstappen... ehh, Max was right on his ass out of the pits and Bottas had fresh hard compound tires, he spun 'em and Max passed... saw that coming. But then why couldn't Bottas keep up with Max and get DRS back on him is my question?! At least he got the fastest lap point.. some consolation.

Odd mistake by Kimi... he literally just ran into the back of his teammate.

Also, sucks for Perez being slowed down by Mazepin while leading.

That 5 second penalty for Mazepin really ruined his race. ;)

    At least he finished?

I'm hoping the Red Bulls and McClarens give Mercedes a hard time this year, watching the Mercs constantly win by a mile gets old. I miss the old Ferrari cheating/not cheating fuel controls that let them be competitive.

another way of looking at this:

HAM has become the consummate champion contender, which basically means his main strategy is to not make any mistakes ever. which is boring AF. but this year, like in '16, he's being pushed. that is some good stuff to watch when he is under pressure and pushing his limits. i mean, i still pull up Turkey '06 GP2 and watch it about once a month. HAM on fire is something to behold.

    for the haters: :crapstorm:

There's no denying that Hamilton is an excellent driver and racing in an excellent car. I think it would be a fun race to see him and Schumacher swap cars. See what the kid can do with a way better car and what one of the all time best drivers can do with a pretty poor car.

Quoting myself... but also. Bottas' pitstop was 3.3 seconds, Hamiltons is 2.5. Something ALWAYS happens to Bottas - the dude has terrible luck. Just like his 'exhaust gas temperature sensor' messing up his power. He was right on Verstappen and then that shit happens and he drops back like 5 seconds. I believe he was gaining on Verstappen fairly consistently near the end until that happened.

Also, i'm just a Bottas fan so i like to find excuses for him, lol.

Very true, I root for him because he’s the underdog of Mercedes, but you’re right he is unlucky. In opposition of his bad luck Ham has the best of luck, remember crossing the line on 3 tyres at Silverstone…
