2021 Formula 1 Season Paddock

Bring back v10's or v12's that run on fully sustainable fuel so that F1 cars are unique to any other racing category. Make all of the support vehicles (Semi's, trucks, cars etc) full electric. The unsustainable part of F1 is the circus surrounding the cars and tire usage...

 

I love how people think Mercedes , Honda or Renault spend 100's of millions of dollars in F1 strictly to entertain the fans and have no interest in using the platform for R&D for their road cars or selling that R&D to their stakeholders in order to stay in F1

 

And it’s nothing to do with the advertising, billions of car sales or 100’s of millions in prize money they get from F1 either

 

guess we should just shut up and be happy with hybrids because the multinationals. everyone here understands why it's like it is.

 

Sure , thats all part of it too but its the manufacturers that pushed the FIA toward the current engine formula , not the other way around

 

Not saying you can't wish we were running V10's , I'm saying the auto manufacturers aren't going to pay for it

 

most obviously. i don't like wasting energy on wishful thinking, but we all know what we're missing. motorsports used to be every sense, a fully visceral experience. no longer, although the racing in these heavy ass contrived cars this weekend was pretty good. can't help but wonder about 900hp screamers in 550kg chassis sometimes, especially when they start talking new engine formulae.

 

Absolutely, F1 to Mercedes is paid advertising, in the last few years they’ve paid to play, won their money back in prize money, made lots of sales from the global advertising of F1, essentially had free R&D to put into their road cars and come out of it being the most successful F1 team with a world known face (Lewis) that everyone knows is Mercedes.

I remember reading Toto explaining how awesome the F1 show is for Mercedes and how much money they make from it.

Oh what it must be like to be on the end of that winning formula!!

 

I mean there's a reason all the big global manufacturers are joining Formula E and its not because of excitement or prize money

 

The only reason there is top tier sport of any kind is because of profit £€¥$

If you want different engine sounds I strongly recommend hooking up to a different racing series. There are V8's, V10's and other layouts running in different series.

Obviously you've never been trackside back when F1 had NA engines in the 90's 2000's? Or you surely wouldn't have said that. The other series your referring to just sound like modded road cars. 18000 rpms sounds a bit different. The sound alone would rock you to the core. Thats missing now. Simple as that. Thats not to say the new cars aren't incredible! They are amazing, its just a bit muffled.
