hey. Until you/Maine says it’s cancelled, I’m still planning to be there. Maybe not Wednesday night anymore but I’ll be there.

but. Back of my mind....Columbus Day eh?

Labor day is more likely, Columbus Day is getting close to hunting season, snow and season that far north.

The issue would be of they extend the fineable offense of out of staters not self quarantining for 2 weeks.

right that’s what I mean right now the Maine rules don’t extend into Memorial Day weekend. So as of right now the two week quarantine won’t be a thing for Memorial Day weekend, etc. if and when they change that and saw two weeks needed/NMW closes for May, that’s the eventuality I say we call it then. As of now though it’s still, in theory, legal and open, for Memorial Day weekend.

that’s a huuuuuge weekend for all of Maine. There are a lot of small businesses that depend on Memorial Day, Labor Day, and 4th if July stretch as their biggest earnings of the year. So Maine won’t close for Memorial Day weekend if they can avoid it. Even a slow weekend is better than nothing.

Can you get much more quarantined than a tent in the middle of the woods?

But seriously, if the order isn't lifted by May 1st I'm cancelling it for memorial day so everyone can make their own plans.

No, but some places specifically in Southern Maine are being pretty strict about having out of state plates. You could be pulled over, and they try to verify that you're not moving in and out of the state without isolating for 2 weeks. If staying on I-95 you'd probably be ok, but it's specifically aimed at all the people (like my inlaws...)who are moving back and forth from MA to their summer house on the southern maine coast to avoid the crowds in more densely populated areas like Taxachusetts.

If this is still in effect for Memorial Day weekend that would be a mess. There’s going to be so many out of state plates.

@Arcticelf so are we calling it for Memorial Day this year? I’m a little interested to see what Mills says in the next few weeks we might be able to. :notsure: But it is getting hairy for sure.

Labor Day or Columbus Day maybe? Columbus Day is a little cooler, way less bugs!

I'll call it on the 1st depending what the govenor announces.

But I'm not optimistic. Somewhere between 4rth of July and Columbus day seems like a good bet.

If it stays closed too deep into spring/summer. Once it opens, I think it’s going to be nuts up there.

Everyone just can’t wait to get away, and that’s the way for a lot of people. I think spaces are going to a little harder to come by. Our friends are already talking about sending someone up ahead to scout and secure space.

We'll be far enough north, I'm not sure that's an issue. But I guess it could be

Most of the massholes are too fancy to travel much farther North than Portland, or Acadia being basically the abosolute farthest they will travel. Most people just want to get out a little, but not go so far from amenities as the NMW.

NH just extended their self quarantine for another 21 days, but they also don't have the Executive Order mandatory self quarantine for people entering the State like Maine does.

I have a feeling the end of this week won't be much different but there's going to be a lot of pressure after that to be open for Memorial Day weekend and allow out of staters.

But yeah, NMW is not a big tourist trap. Some of the bigger/popular sites will be busy but there's so many sites.

Portland will be mobbed cause it's 100x better than Boston. And Acadia/ White Mountains will be fucking packed. But NMW just isn't a big draw due to lack of just about everything and distance from population centers.

I picked May 1 because that's when the current travel bans expire, and to give people time to plan.

I have to transit NY and NJ somehow, so what's happening farther south is also a concern.
