You should hook up that new light bar on the roof so that it turns on whenever the methanol is spraying

Bald Mountain looks cool, that's near Shaver Lake?

The first image that shows up is from Wikipedia and it's a different Bald Mountain, which is good because it looks lame lol

The one in the Sierras looks awesome

There are lots of bald mountains, lol. I almost got struck by lightening on a Bald Mountain down near Tom's Place near Bishop.

Was hiking up the bald granite dome and felt the hair on my neck stand up. Quickly shit myself and ran back down. That night was an epic thunder storm. Wife and I were camping at this site that's between to glacial moraines, and lightening was hitting the opposite ridge. We decided to pack up and eject and got a hotel in Bishop.

So when I went out there just last week, the fires seemed to have hit above Shaver Lake, but not as far up as Huntington Lake.

    20201223_090026.jpg

It's until you're above Shaver Lake that you'll see what was burned.

    20201223_133709.jpg

This is the route around Shaver as if heading all the way around the lake to Bald Mountain (long way)

I've been up around the Bald Mountain area a bunch of times. It's super nice. Lots of good campsites too.

At your rate, 1st Gens will be extinct once you get the front end of an SAS done.

    Hangs kinda low though.

my approach angle is probably better.

It does hang a bit low...but I haven't had any desire to put an aftermarket front bumper on the 4R at all in general.

The approach angle I'd argue is pretty good on a stock 4R and stock Tacoma; all aftermarket bumpers seem to stick forward a bit lessening that angle.

They stick out further, but are higher.

Take a piece of plywood and place it against the front tires, then lean it up until it hits something. Admittedly there probably isn't a HUGE advantage, but it's there. It's like those stingers you see on crawlers. They stick way out (and are high, too), but don't affect the approach angle. Only disadvantageous if you're trying to approach a brick wall straight on.

The main advantage is the side/angle approach because the sides of the bumpers angle up so high.

For me, that might even be my skid plate because my radiator hangs low.

Found this cool source for KMZ trails. These appear to be all (most) of the trails in the Backcountry Adventure series books. It certainly doesn't have all the trails, but a fair amount for sure.

California, Nevada, Utah, Colorado, Arizona, and others.

    http://www.offroadinghome.com/california/california.htm

I've been customizing the maps, and adding trails that I already made, and switching out ones I already had that were more accurate than these, but for the most part, it's a pretty good resource.

    And FREE!

Funny, I got some needed maintenance done on the 4R and I doubt @eon_blue truck needs anything. Should move the potential for a small meet up to a different thread.
