It was almost as if he was trying to wreck the car there for awhile . He was really pushing the limit of it hard . Stage one when he was near the front he looked great but the dirty air in the pack killed his car and he really struggled on restarts .

The funny thing about that whole deal was when he went to the back the NBC commentators spent 10 laps trying to figure out what had happened to him... I had heard the audio so I already knew and was laughing my ass off at them... then FINALLY one of the producers I guess identified the exchange and aired it.

They were guessing tire... then brake issue... then the audio was aired and they finally STFU about it.

I heard him going through one of his retard rants on the radio to his crew chief during the race. I was switching channels between the race and the US Open so I didn't pay much attention to what his rant was about. If you have NBC Sports Chicago the race will be rebroadcast tonight, Monday 6/21 at 7pm.

he's earned the right to be retarded every now and again. Even our series champ is struggling hard to be relevant this year and was gifted a win a COTA. Every driver in the series is frustrated, angered or hurt over how bad the 5 car is dominating. If i drove any other car besides 5, i'd get a bit retarded every now and again too.

@tclavell 100% agree. Heat of battle and how many of us wouldn't blow of steam/use the "vent button"?! Know damn well I would. That said, some are more tempered than others.

We're just fortunate that we can tune into the radios. What other sport has openly available team communication? Yeah, we can hear caddies & golfers but that isn't the same in my book.

If you ever had to pleasure or pain of listening to Danica' radio when she drove in the Cup series, that's bitching. Great radio but useless banter. She blamed everything on everyone else because she was a shitty driver. :D

Haha kinda rings a bell. Can't blame her for taking the offer to come to Cup. Better money and I'm sure the marketing money was light years better. Can't blame the team owners for luring her over either. Guaranteed car sponsorship & all the merch sales. Eventually the lack of results diminished those #s but not before SHR that money cow for all it was worth.

You can give Chase all the shit you want about that COTA win. He did have the biggest balls on the track that day and managed to bring a car with 5 loose lugs on the right rear home in 13th yesterday and still threw it in there for 35 laps knowing it could fail at anytime. Chase reminds me of Bobby Allison. I think we are seeing the beginning of the 5 winning 10ish races a year. His crew chief seems a lot like he is ahead of everyone else in-between the ears.

not buying it... if anything NASCAR looked like a bunch of morons for having Danica representing their brand. SHR gladly shredded anything resembling her image, long ago. Her departure couldn't have come quick enough.

I like Chase, don't get me wrong. He's the face of NASCAR, rightfully so. If it was anyone else leading, that race would not have been called. Just my opinion!

I was just saying that they brought her over to make money off her gender, not her driving ability. Once they money wasn't there, out she went.

Could be. I feel it would have been called regardless but everyone has a right to whatever opinion they want and I respect that. I expect Chase will get one of the road courses coming up. That 5 is the perfect mix. A crew chief coming into his own and a driver who will literally put the car wherever it runs fastest. And has the ability and car control that maybe 3 or 4 other drivers have. Add with that the spite factor and you have yourself a man on a mission. Plus you put him in the best equipment on the track. Dude almost has to win. I feel like Chase is trying to make up for it by just having the balls to put the car out there but it looks like he is getting the most out of his equipment every week. The other large teams seem to be content with letting this season go to HMS in preparation for next years car.

This is why I welcome the move to single lugs. No more penalties. The problem will fix itself.

The sad part was... Chase knew he had something amiss but elected to fight through it chalking it up to a tire going down. Should have pitted and address the issue. Wouldn't have the 13th place he finished but would have had a better position than he ended up with.

And the 1 lug does have some cons as well... it you happen to leave it loose... you'll have more than a penalty problem...... and don't say it can't be done...... many an open wheel team has suffered that fate being careless.

That's on AG but you would think they would have known. They have helmet cams, and they can see the torque specs for lug that was hit on that stop. AG should have brought him in but they still didn't really lose much. They are in the playoffs. Sure they gave up the stage win point but that's all that would have carried over. You have to be able to produce wins when you get into the chase anyway. Any of the teams that have won can throw away whatever race they want.

Don't get why 18 team was coming on stronger since win at Kansas - but fell flat on their face yesterday. I know everyone has a bad day but he won the Xfinity race on Saturday and they were allowed to practice for cup race. Not sure change in crew chiefs was the best idea after 2020. JGR has been on the weak side lately. See what Pocono has to offer next weekend.
