I think JGR will pull a Penske/HMS and come on strong in late-Summer, making a charge to the championship.

He was young… we all have those moments. As stated, he’s earned his right to be annoyed.

A few additions to make me feel cool.
I suspect he was told not to do that again. After he said he was at the start finish line then did not I would be surprised if someone didn't tell him to be a bit more respectful of that piece and the people who made it. That's worse than bashing the clock a Martinsville with a hammer in victory lane. It is a highly prized one of a kind piece that a lot of craftmanship went into. You are awarded it for winning then to pretty much spit in the face of the people who provided that opportunity just so you can bring more attention to yourself is childish and immature. If I was the person who spent hundreds of hours making that I would have punched him in the face.

They should have handed him a $100 guitar from a pawnshop and wrote "WINNER" on it with a sharpie in victory lane.

    Pocono By the Numbers:

    (for the past ten years)
    Ford-4
    Chevrolet-8
    Toyota-9

    Wins by Active Driver:
    (for the past ten years)
    Keselowski-1
    Logano-1
    Ku Busch-1
    Beuscher-1
    Blaney-1
    Harvick-1
    Hamlin-2
    Truex-2
    Ky Busch-3

    DNF by Active Driver:
    McDowell-7
    Ky Busch-6
    Ku Busch-5
    DiBenedetto-4
    Almirola-4

    Avg Finish by Active Driver:
    Byron 9.6
    Keselowski 10.9
    Hamlin 11.2
    Jones 11.3
    Harvick 12
    Larson 12.4
    Blaney 12.6
    Newman 13.3
    Elliott 14.3
    Ku Busch 14.4

Back to some old standards after several weeks of wildcards. Based on active driver wins, there seems to be a good bit of parity. Toyota has been most dominant in recent years but Chevy has some pure speed this year that is hard to touch. Prior to Toyota's dominance here, Chevy was king. I'd look to a fast bowtie to be in victory lane this weekend. It's going to be Gibbs vs. Hendrick. The 18, 19, and 11 in that order vs the 5, 24, and 9 in that order. If I had to pick two, I'd say the 18 or 5.

Pocono has gained a reputation among many fans as a "boring" track, but I've never thought this to be the case. If anything, the grandstands are simply located in the wrong spot for seeing high-speed action. Three straights of varying length and three turns of different radii wreak havoc on setup notes. It's near-impossible to be great in all six sections of the track.

I can't pick a favorite turn because the approach to all three is different. Modeled after historic Trenton Speedway, the "Kidney Bean," T1 is a high-speed, long, and banked turn that's taken with a flutter of the throttle before holding for a hard left. Fast, sweeping, turn two is a carbon copy of Indianapolis Speedway. Turn 3 is modeled after the Milwaukee Mile, offering significant speed-scrubbing before the LONG sprint to the finish line. The track was built to mimic historic open-wheel tracks from a bygone era but has been home to the big & bulky stock cars for a long time.

Pocono has seen some WILD crashes and events throughout its history. It's ended the lives of some drivers and the careers of many more. It's seen recent triumphs such as Blaney and Beuscher's first wins, too. I like Pocono :)

it's not an unreasonable assumption. The guy finally figured out how to put a complete race together. We'll see if he can put a complete season together.

Agree 100%, the run for the championship is always different, and just a moment of bad luck changes everything then.

Real question is what happened to Brad K this year?!?! He hasn’t really done much. Any fans out there that have any ideas?

Penske's CC swap is not working as well as they thought it would. All three Penske drivers have won and are doing well in points (5th, 9th, 10th) but they're not setting the world on fire like Chevy. Penske's not OFF like SHR. Outside Harvick in 8th, SHR cars are 26, 27, 28 in points.
