I made it to the last 100 laps before I passed out. Had to work early yesterday so I was exhausted. Actually came here to find out who the winner was.

But... I did finally look up the results. Congrats to the 42 for another top 10... my boy struggled but brought it home 18th. Next week is the 2 year anniversary of being a 21 fan... this is where it started... maybe we'll get a great result then.

    It's Bristol Baby!
I finally knocked this one off the bucket list last year. The race was somewhat of a snoozer. The most exciting part being Kyle Busch getting held up in the closing laps, allowing Harvick to catch and pass him. Bristol has an aura all its own. It is truly a spectacle. The stadium lights glow as the sun sets with a slight hint of Fall chill in the air. Airplanes blasting red, white, and blue smoke circle overhead in an ever-tightening pattern as the glowing cars take their parade laps.

Toyota has been pretty dominant at Bristol. I believe this is due to driver skill and setups more than HP or aero. Kyle Busch and Denny Hamlin have been the de facto Toyota kings at Bristol. Unfortunately, given the current regs, there is no time for practice and setup adjustments, so Kyle has lost his edge. Harvick was last year's winner, staying near the front all night and making his attack at the right time. While not as hot as he was last year, Harvick is picking up steam and will surely notch a win very soon. Keselowski is hungry for a final win in the #2 and Bristol has been a good place to him in the past. It's also a checkers or wreckers type place for Kes, as his average finish is lower than many other previous winners.

    Picks: 2, 4, 18

    Dark Horse
: With 6 wins here, Kurt Busch can never be counted out. Coupled with Kyle's 9 wins, the brothers have 15 combined Cup wins at. Bristol.

LOL, 3% of the time. I am right 100% of the time.

I am going to pick the 18 for this one. I expect the 2, 22 and 12 will be strong also.

The 5 will push hard to win, the 9 will just cruise for a solid top 10 and the 24 & 48 will push hard and crash.

I would be willing to bet that is not the strategy for Bristol. That can bite him big time. Sit back, even middle of the pack, and finish the race in one piece. The 4 is safely in the top 12.

    Smart pick! :D

I'm a huge 18 fan. He's had bad mental mistakes that have cost him, i would gather, at least 1 or 2 additional wins.

Don't know why they have to go to LA for that. They could have gone to Bowman Gray in NC.

Is NASCAR really trying to lose their core?! I'm hanging on by a thread and the only reason why I am really still around lately is because I have a driver I believe in.

So... Instead of keeping your base and potentially giving their love of the sport to the Next Generation... You try and Pander to a millennial demographic that will never fully embrace the sport.

In my humble opinion this idea is about as retarded as they come.

I don’t think they’re aiming for Millennials. We’re 30-40, have kids, mortgages, auto loans and student loan debt. We don’t have extra $$.

the biggest problem I have with this is it's a prelude to the 2022 season. NASCAR has always kicked off the season at Daytona. While this may bring folks, true diehards are going to have a problem with the Daytona 500 not officially kicking off the season.

    We shall see....

P.S. racing on a quarter mile track is going to be a shit show!

IIRC, they used to run Riverside as the season opener before Daytona up until 1982. Doing that big Western trip was the norm since the early-60s. So, historically, it makes sense to go out there and drum up interest for the California Speedway race later in the season. It’s still a costly trip for teams both big and small and Bowman Gray and Greenville Pickens are sitting over here ready to go on any given Sunday.

All that said- I can’t wait to see the dates announced because I’m usually out there in January for work and wouldn’t mind arriving early or sticking around a day or two to see this.
