That was an incredible feat! That tranny issue would've buried him 20 years ago. They used to run Jericho straight shift transmissions at Pocono and downshift through the tunnel turn. A lot of guys blew their gears back then.

Yes I remember the days when they ran the Jericho at Pocono and downshifted. Always watch Pocono - one of my fav races/tracks

I was at the MIS race and felt the same. I was very surprised to see the comments were actually generally positive for the race even though MIS has become a snoozefest with this current package. This was my first race I attended. The 2 dumped the 3 right in front of us but shockingly I didn't hear any of it and didn't realize it happened until after it was over.

Ok, I will agree with you. In the Busch series he did do an awesome job. When he came to Winston Cup for us Old Timers. He couldn't really compete. Maybe it was the car. Maybe it was his Crew Chief and the way he set up the Car? It just wasn't there.

Jr never lived up to anyone's expectations once he went up to the Cup Series. Whether unfairly or otherwise. His legacy is, son of a legend.

A few additions to make me feel cool.
We will agree to disagree. I mean he was competitive in most races. Had many successful years with multiple wins and was in the championship conversation more often than not. Only 31 drivers have won more races than he did over a career in cup. I think peoples expectation of him was a bit unrealistic. He was not his father. To say he was a failure in cup is just not fair though. Hell, he had a six win season. Not really sure you can say that was not competing. Per the stats he is ranked the 19th best driver to set in a cup car since 1972. So again, if you don't like the guy feel free to express yourself but to shit on his career with complete BS is something else. Love him or hate him, we would not be watching NASCAR with the success it has had if not for his efforts. He is hands down the best thing to happen to the sport probably ever. He is an ambassador for the sport and is about as humble as they come. Of course this is my opinion and you are welcome to your own but man. Give the guy a break.

He has earned the right to his opinion of Hemric. Not only as a competitor but also as someone who employed him. Keep in mind this was all while Gordon was hot in the first part of Jr's career and for the latter he had Jimmy Johnson winning most everything. At the very least Jr made a respectable showing of himself.

To be fair, we're used to hearing about drivers like Jeff Gordon, Jimmie Johnson, Kyle Busch, Denny Hamlin, Tony Stewart, and Kevin Harvick. Of those, Hamlin has the least amount of wins at 46, but by any measure they've actually had very successful careers and are exceptional drivers.

They're ahead of well known names like Mark Martin, Terry and Bobby Labonte, Jeff Burton, Dale Jarrett, AJ Foyt, Fireball Roberts, Bill Elliott, and Tim Flock. And in the modern era no less, which is arguably the most competitive among top teams. Only 5 of those guys in this paragraph are ranked ahead of Jr in terms of wins.

I have college football and that's about it since most providers took away Bally Sports and so I can't watch most hockey games.

The playoff does suck. But rumor is it will be expanded to 12 teams by 2023. DII football has a playoff, basketball has a playoff, even hockey has a legit playoff. Absolutely no reason DI can't be better.

I always considered myself a Red Wings fan (also like Vegas) but never truly got into hockey until I was a Zamboni driver in college. Best job I ever had! Just too bad it doesn't pay well.

I don't watch basketball except during March Madness.

I stopped watching the NFL as well. They just don't have the same heart as college players. Plus it doesn't help that the Lions suck although I am low-key rooting for the LA Rams now that they have Matthew Stafford.

Personally, I'd like to see 16 teams. With the 12 system, 4 teams are likely to have first round bye weeks. I'm not a fan of any team having bye weeks, especially when their seeding is set by the opinion of a committee.
