Have you guys checked out the docu-series on Netflix about Formula 1? Called Drive To Survive or some shit. I am not a formula 1 guy but it is a pretty good series. Really unfiltered and real. Kind of refreshing to see someone actually cover something correctly without hyping the sport and showing what actually goes on.

Not trying to freak out but I’m kinda second-guessing going to the track with 50,000 other folks with this Coronavirus deal.

Yeah, that is a valid concern. As usual everyone here thinks it will not affect us until it does. As close as I am to CA I will probably be dead before Atlanta!

Like, I KNOW how dirty people can be at the race track, and we'll be camping right there with thousands of others from across the country with limited access to sanitary facilities for 3-4 days. I'm not a germophobe but my years in the classroom made me acutely aware of how gross people can be and how quickly illness can spread.

Got a better chance to catch a cold.

The Corona virus thing is just good for panic induced ratings.

There has been 100k infected worldwide... on a planet of 7 billion.

Exactly. They just want everyone to panic and not pay attention to other real problems that are going on. Smoke screen so to speak.

Known infected, there could be many many more that barely had a sneeze to others that just got sick. Do we really know the real data from China? I think it’s been spreading in the U.S. for longer than just the last few days. I think it will be a fast spreading flu like thing, but it’s the fast spreading of an unknown virus that concerns me. I think we will find out in the next few days to maybe a week.

True or should I say false, I’m confused now.

Confusion is what they really want.

JAYSKI has an interesting post on expected changes. Many other racing organizations have used center lugs for a while now so I'm okay with that change.
18 inch wheels - Will the rim/tire width change too?
Refueling Hose? Wonder what made decide to go to this?
Independent Rear Suspension? Might be interesting.
    Six Speed Sequential? Mehh.
Hybrid Component? I'm definitely no fan of hybrids.
NASCAR has made a lot of change that I don't care for. I'd rather watch dirt sprint cars any day of the week if there were only some dirt tracks around here

I rarely watch Nascar but my region is littered with dirt tracks. It is my preference every time

I don't mind single lugs. If some teams want to stick with 5 lugs per tire, let 'em and we'll see how that goes for them. For those who go to one lug, it's 16 less chances to mess up on each pit stop.

I think it takes away from the integrity of a good pit stop. Puts the pressure on the team and adds the element of the X factor. Miss a lug, not tighten, gun malfunction, pop the valve stem and ect ect. Might as well have a 20 lap race and skip the pit stops. Stage racing and taking the X factor out is fucken lame.

So wouldn't eliminating 16 lug nuts put it back more into the hands of the driver? But I do agree that stage racing is lame.

Having only one lug will eliminate teams fully tightening only 2-3 lugs per wheel and taking the $ penalty for late-race dashes. If they choose to speed up a stop by leaving a lug loose, now they'll lose a wheel.

It’s always been about how your pit crew does, it’s part of the excitement. Can the car make it all 400 to 500 miles, will the pit crew gain a position, will they f it all up?

It’s a team sport. I think the harder they make it the better it is. You can take a mid pack driver and put him in good equipment and on a good team and he will place better. He wouldn’t be able to do that without hundreds of people working behind the scenes to get him there. You want to roll the dice and not out all the lugs on thinking you will pit again that up to you. I also understand the importance of safety and getting guys back over the wall as fast as they can is a good thing. Next they will go to eliminating the Jack man. Good for getting another guy off pit road but then again there goes the X factor. Pit to close to the wall, car falling off the jack, guys tripping and falling ect ect all things that can shake up the outcome of a race.

Yes we all want speed and safety, but I think the sport continues to move away from Stock cars.

What’s next a couple different tire compounds and little extra passing boost? Maybe we should get rid of the sheet metal and race open wheels.
