I agree, but keep in mind one of the major factors that led to bringing speeds down at Daytona and Talladega was cars getting airborne and almost landing in the stands. There were have been several wrecks where, if circumstances had been just a little different, cars could have cleared the catch fence.

98 was the sweet spot for me... Irvan was back from his injuries... Martin was giving Gordon a run for his money and The Intimidator was still pissing people off.

We had tickets for the July Daytona... it got smoked out and we never made it in October...

I still had my Skittles watch until recently.

I still think October is the best date for Daytona. Weather was nice. That was the summer I scorched my lungs fighting those damned wildfires. I'm still at 48% lung capacity thanks to the scar tissue.

Funny you say that... that was my father and I's Sunday morning routine... we'd sit at the kitchen table drinking coffee watching bowling while we waited for mom to wake up.

    Norm Duke was that dude!!!

The sad part is... I want so badly to keep loving NASCAR. I just finally found a driver worth pulling for again after all this time. Havent had a solid driver since Irvan retired... I mean I did always pull for Martin... but even then he always felt like my second driver ( how fitting... huh?). And after he retired I bounced around trying to find a fanhome... but nobody really stirred my emotions to go all in... until Bristol last August.

This sport has great memories for me and it pains me I may just have to give it up for good due to their retardation and constant pulling in the wrong direction... going after a target demographic that will never really consume their products quite like us old guard traditionalists... and they insist on pulling further away from our kind.

I mean... NASCAR is what it is... changing it to be like open wheel or sportscar racing defeats the definition of nascar.

Ryan Newman is at the race track this weekend. He said he still doesn't know when he'll be back in the car. I bet he's back within a couple weeks.

I sure hope the 9 car has some good luck today. I think it's going to be between the 9 and the 4.

As much as I hate to admit... Harvick pretty much owns this track.

21 looking top 5 strong though.

Reddick sounds stout. Has he outperformed his #3 teammate each week this season?
