I believe we witnessed another Kyle Busch Charlotte tantrum.

2007: wrecked. Left the track while his team was fixing the car. Earnhardt Jr steps in to finish the race, leading to Kyle's firing and Earnhardt's hiring.
    https://www.espn.com/racing/columns/story?columnist=blount_terry&id=2839339&seriesId=2

2019: (Last year's Coke 600) "I quit! Joe, I'm sending in my resignation." Kyle finished third.
    https://ftw.usatoday.com/2019/05/watch-frustrated-kyle-busch-told-joe-gibbs-he-quit-during-race

2019: (also Charlotte). Kyle exits and retires from the race during the red flag.
    https://beyondtheflag.com/2019/10/01/nascar-cup-series-kyle-busch-wrong-quit-charlotte/

Early in his career, Charlotte was not a kind track to Kyle. Post-Hendrick, he was much more consistent there, but in recent years his Charlotte stats have started to ping-pong again.

That Dawsonville sireen is getting a workout this week. I can't wait until the pool room is open again. I'm ready for a burger and a run to the kart track.

I wonder what broke on the 4 car. Something was designed to flex in that chassis and stopped doing it's job 30 laps premature. That car gave up 12 sec in 30 laps. I think Kevin was playing it off like oh we expected that so NASCAR would not take a closer look.

This weekend will be a good test to see where the 18 actually stands right now. If he sucks at Bristol it gonna be a long season for the 18 fans.

Yeah, something broke on that car. I mean they are all skirting on the edge of the rules. I was sweating the 9 passing inspection. Rodney Childers is one of the best at making things flex so they were trying something. Tire give up was not really a thing and the car did not go away gradually.

I did hear Joy and Gordon say they had never seen a car go away like that before but I think they were trying to cover it up a little and started talking about the track.

NASCAR should do one exhibition race a year where the cars have to pass pre race but have no post race. Just to let the crew chiefs and teams show off a little. There would be some crazy fast cars. Also I thought Chase's aggressive burnout in the opposite direction of how the car is scewed was probably to ensure they moved the rear end back to where it needed to be. Like when the radio caught Chad telling Jimmy if he won he had better back that car into the wall during the celebration. All that shit's planned.

I think it's the draw deal. Top 12 in points draw and so on back until the non charter teams get placed by points.

I think pit selection is based on the finishing order from the previous race.

Yuuuuuup, when I saw that burnout, I thought "hey wait a minute, that's not how they usually do it. That sure will kick the rear end around on the chassis....... Ohhhhhhhhhhh."

I have said for a long time if they want it to be as fair as they can make it they need to knock the celebration shit off. You can pretty much wreck the car and they don't care if you win. I mean shredding tires and tearing the rear quarters off, they are not doing that shit for the fun of it. It cost money and they are trying to cover things up. I never got the "burn it down" thing. Win the race, wave to the crowd and respect the machine that just got you there and the people who prepare it.

I love all this talk about how the 9 was altering things to help pass the post race, if I recall, not too long ago Jimmy Johnson was only good because he got away with cheating.

I thought that screwing things up on the burnout wasn’t an excuse anymore. I though NASCAR stopped that a few years ago.

I am a #9 fan. I have no problem with it because they are all doing it. And Johnson was only that good because Chad learned from Ray E. how to work in the gray areas. Now the top crew chiefs are getting much better at it. If you are running in the top 10 today in NASCAR. Your car is not legal.

its only cheating if you get caught. I agree that is the crews job, gert everything you can out of the car without getting in trouble. My point, is how it was not ok for the one, but now it is. I can just imagine if it had been the 18 car. :crapstorm:

It is not an excuse. The car still has to pass post race. What we are saying it that allowing drivers to beat on the cars after the race allows them to alter how the car crosses the finish line during the burnout, thus allowing it to pass post race. Anyone who knows this sport could tell that Chase knew he had to move that rear end back towards the drivers side of the car. That is why he did the burnout the way he did. If he would not have been able to do that. He would have been in the 48's boat from the 600. In some cases it is an insurance policy because they are so close to the edge but in most cases the winner gets to make some post race adjustments from the drivers seat.

No need to make this about the 18 Kyle! Let us enjoy your boy being irrelevant for the time being. You get Bristol this weekend so you time is coming. It was frustrating when Jimmy was doing it because Chad was so much better at it. Same a Ray was with Jeff. Now that they are all doing it it makes for a more even playing field. All I am saying is the post race celebration has been out of hand for a while. To the point to where if you can't win you almost have to drop back far enough to be obscure so you can try and get away with it. Ford seems to like playing with body flex, Penski likes to bend skirts and quarter panels during pit stops. HMS does a LOT of chassis stuff as does SHR. They all fuck with the rear ends. JGR does voodoo or some serious shit. Look at the 19.
