Well, it sounds like if they do find something penalty worthy, it would be assessed to the 20 anyway, absent of any evidence it went beyond the crew chief.

A few additions to make me feel cool.
At this point they should just put the 4 in and let them have a 5 way battle for the cup. It was a pretty pimp move by the 18 that he got dumped and spun the car 360 and didn't hit anything else and barely lost speed. Kyle was like "MF did you forget who I am"!

I was hoping Eric Jones would pass the 11. Would have been a great middle finger on the way out. I doubt he would have been driving that car next week if he had though.

I loved that! Poetic justice! The 4 should get penalized for that, but probably won't.

Yeah he has no incentive to listen. I like him, but there's no doubt that he's underperformed.

Should, but he also managed to blow a historically large points lead, so there's that.

You seem to be missing the core concept - It is not a playoff by the very definition of the word playoff. Might as well change the green flag to an hi-viz orange flag and still call it a green flag.

Just because NASCAR has more viewers doesn't mean it is a better product. More people go to McDonald's than to a Ruth's Chris Steak House. Does that mean McDonald's has better food? No. It is more accessible.

Actually, it still is. A playoff is a series of eliminations among the top competitors to determine a champion and takes place after the regular season. The first 26 races are considered the regular season for NASCAR. There is no requirement that the other teams then go home.

While I agree about not necessarily being a better product (don't get me started on the aero package, or HP), however, NASCAR is a business and ratings are what they need. Personally, I think people whining about the playoff are generally people who can't handle anxiety. Trust me, as a Kyle Busch fan, last season was very nerve wracking. However, I greatly enjoyed last night's race and the excitement it created, given that I didn't have a horse in the race. Many others feel the same.

Also, NASCAR isn't any more or less accessible than in years past, or the NFL for that matter. The point you were trying to make doesn't fit here.

More accessible in relation to other forms of motorsport. NASCAR has improved its accessibility as broadcast partners (and cable companies) have moved the third tier channels that broadcast races out of exclusive bundles and into the primary channel package. When NASCAR races were moved to NBCSN it was only available by purchasing an entire "sports package." Since I don't really care about sports in general, it wasn't worth the extra $20-$30 a month to watch the odd NASCAR race. It is now part of the basic cable package where FS2 is not.

And yet, still less accessible than broadcasting local. Either way, the providers didn't change that just in the last year or even 2.

For me the channel lineup changed this past year, so anything broadcast on NBCSN was a no-go.

Like I said previously, with the current package I don't go out of my way to watch a race. If it is on and I have nothing better to do I might watch. I'm generally traveling three weeks out of every four for work and only have one or two days off per month, so it's not like I have much spare time anyway.

Yeah, I'm usually working on race day so it is hard for me to catch races too. I've always had NBCSN, but my provider just got rid of FSN so I'm not too pleased about that, but that has nothing to do with NASCAR.

I wish they still had MRN on your local country station like they used to. With old Eli Gold. "Let's pause 10 seconds for station identification". I wish I knew how many Sunday afternoons I was out doing something with the race on the radio. Those were the days.

They still broadcast the races on one of our local country stations.

Back in those days I was in southern VA. Now out here on the west coast in the devils ashtray that might have something to do with it.

Harvick needed a couple more laps to get the 18 out of his road like the 2 was doing . It's crazy that the 4 and 11 was fighting for the forth spot after the year they both had and one point kept him out but he did seem to take it ok in his interview .
