Yeah, Forest Service doesn't want people driving through streams or on the lakebed, and to just stay on the trails. When we were there, there were a lot of people who had trailblazed down to the lakebed to spots that are typically underwater at this time of year and were setting up camp, and the Forest Service was trying to figure out how to handle it. To be perfectly honest, that was first time I'd seen a ranger out there in probably 15 or so trips. That lady definitely has her job cut out for her.

The Place is sooooo blown out, I’m glad to hear the ranger is spending time up there.

So them handling it is taking down license plates, not putting up a sign or trying to inform... Probably want to remove any pics of being in the said area, esp with license plates, and call it The Alleged Trip to Bowman Lake Area.

From what I allegedly saw, everything was fine, people just enjoyed their time, everyone played it safe, no trash or ruining nature.

    Somewhere in the Sierras:

We had a great time. Everything was well maintained. Clean etc. As for crossings if signs were posted I would have stayed away.

Yeah, it is odd that they don't post signs. To be perfectly honest, the only reason we were informed is because the ranger was parked right at the crossing when we drove up to it.

As with most things with the Forest Service, you are expected to know the rules. They don't post them. Closed routes are not marked and if they are, it could be a simple route marker making everything look legit.

"If you want to know, go to the Forest HQ" will be the answer. GAIA does offer MVUM layers which makes it easier I suppose.

Sorry, didn't mean it that way. Honestly thank you for the heads up. There is def a balance between things getting out of hand and destroying a beautiful spot and everything being off-limits and inaccessible

You're right, but when they see something as a problem, putting up additional signage may help solve the problem. Ex: They didn't want people taking that bypass around the broken bridge when there was water in the creek a few years ago, but they only posted about it on their website. Granted, they did put boulders in the way on either side at one point, but somebody dragged them off in short order.

I don't disagree but that's how the forest rules are enforced and users are notified.

I’ll be braving the crowds around slickrock this holiday June 30th - July 5th if anyone wants to stop by for shenanigans. Some trail runs that Thursday or Friday may be in order

    Brave man

Its to the point in CA that i dont wanna go anywhere on the weekends. Most of my camping trips are during the week, most things i do i take a weekday off to do it. Im about to seek a new job that uses an alternate work week schedule.

I'll be there the weekend after. I'm hoping that the crowds won't be too bad considering after a holiday and all

Crowds man… I’m going up to Usal beach tomorrow to snag a spot mid day. Then will be hiking and surfing and cooking up dank meals before camping down on the beach. If you’re around the area come say hi!

I'll be camping at Lake Alpine July 8-10 with the fam. Happy to see how far the F-150 on 35s can go if you are around on Friday.
