You go through the Douglas entrance and go past granite beach til you find the oak beach turnoff, then you turn down there and that’s the drive-on beach with lots of good spots

Did you go swimming in the lake? Couple weeks ago my nephew and I went swimming near Mormon Island area and both of us came out of the water with leeches on our feet.

Haven’t swam there since it was a lake, right now it’s a pond :( but I’ve never dealt with leaches there swimming previously

Made it down HWY 1 to end up in Big Sur. Camped overnight and got some pretty good views. It was 56° at sea level and jumped to 95° above the marine layer. Happy we got shade haha.

Not much wind at all. A little at night but not too bad. I’d say it wasn’t that busy compared to usual but that road is always busy because it’s so popular. We were lucky to get my favorite spot!

Nac Ferg Road leads to this spot but yes you’re correct that it’s still closed. Ranger said they got about 15” of rain in Jan which washed out most of the road. You can still access the campsite from HWY 1.

Interesting. Last I was there, there was no road access up into the hills east of hwy 1 other than private roads.
