    Hello all,

Always peeking in these Tacoma Forums but never posted.

    Just got a used 2021 off road 4x4. 75k...used.

Had to get another truck since my 2004 tacoma got totaled. Still ran well.

After taking it home I noticed a few over looked things. The most important was the way the right front stood higher and the rear left lower. The dealer had put a lift kit when they took the trade in.
I also noticed a slight shudder and hesitation from 20mph shifting up. Seems common for these trucks but I took it back to get it looked through since like I mentioned it has some over looked things like low fluids.

I mentioned maybe a trans fluid drain would help. But the dealer decided to offer me a used transmission swap. I was a lil surprised. Have not taken it back to do the swap but have an appointment on Tuesday.

    And recommendtions.

    Much appreciated.

    Update....

Returned the truck ...yruck was also leaking coolant. Thought I smelled a faint smell. Git worse. Evn thi dealer said they fixed it. Something was fishy about the truck. Dealer and I agreed that a return was a must.

What is this appointment? The used transmission swap, what is the catch? Dealer going pay for it, with parts, and labor?

If it’s on their dime … don’t see an issue . Just make sure it’s covered after install .

Yea appointment to swap the trans. It seems like it is used and has 64k. 10k less than mine.

Seems like they are going to pay for it. Seems like it has some kind of warranty. But uncear still. They said rhey were going to call back. I suspect they qill call on monday.

I would ask many questions about why they think you need a new transmission. Talk directly to a tech, not a customer service rep.

Yea I was thinking the same. They have so many middle men. I plan to ask more questions on Monday.

    Update.
    .

Dealer swapped the trans and installed new leaf springs. On the way home smelled coolent in the cab, I believe. It wasn't a oil burning smell but an evaporation of some fluid.

Mechanic said check back Monday might be residential fluid. It has gotten better.

I think I can make the case to return it and they offered that option. I like the truck. Although 14 mpg tops in the city is not great. But it looks pretty bad ass and have loads of space for my gf dog and mine. Haven't tested the 4x4 on a trail but the light comes on haha.

I am happy with it if it will not give me more grief.

They also changed the drover side mirror. Seems like the sales person got ahead of themselves and sold it before it was finalized. So the dealer says.
