Has anyone verified their trans fluid levels are to spec themselves who are experiencing these issues? I dont think id trust the dealers to verify this themselves.

Yes. Did the proper fill/check on a level surface with truck at correct temp. Trans was 250ml low. No difference. Truck is always shuddering/bogging and shifting rough. OVtune 2.0 also did nothing to help, even though it was touted as the be all fix all. Apprehensive to try other tunes as it seems to just be another cycle of the same hype. Dealership says it’s all normal. Mind you, This is a 2018, but same engine and trans

They told my buddy the same for his 2019 trd that its normal for this to happen in some tacoma's when running low rpm under load. Just the nature of how they run if you operate them that way. he was told i'll have no effect on the trucks reliability. Maybe its more noticeable in double cabs, idk.

I've found running the tire pressure no higher than 30 psi with 265 70 16 goodyears to run a lot smoother, plus i'm getting good tire wear. I never put up with the stock firestones to see where they were.

There are a few different options for throttle sensitivity with that tune

Been experiencing exactly what you are describing. What came of it in your case? (In respects to working with Toyota, and what they “determined”)

Maybe you all need to check in with the Ford, Chevy and the Dodge people every one of them seems to have the same exact issue you are having best bet is to blame it on the converter lockup/unlock ease up on the gas the converter unlocks give it some gas it locks up again don't think you'll ever fix it. In the dark ages they did it but it was not real noticeable because they only had 3 or 4 speeds.

I'm having the same issues. I'm taking it into the dealership as I don't have the time to diagnose and it's ski season so I'd rather not get stranded with the kids because I ignored the issue. 2017 with 91k on the clock.

I'll let you know how it goes.

My 2022 SR5 6,000 miles has same shudder stumble convulsive bog at 40mph + on any slight incline up where light throttle is needed.
My fix is that if i’m around town or road under 65 mph then i put it in 5th and leave it there = no more bog stumble.
When i was at the dealership getting something else fixed the kid checking in my truck couldn’t make heads or tails of what i was telling him about the bog stumble. After i got the truck back he said that the tech couldn’t get the bog stumble to happen LoL so it happened twice on my way home instead.

In situations like that it can be helpful to ask the tech to go for a ride with u and demonsrate the problem first hand. They sometimes just drive around the parking lot expecting to find the problem

I had a Silverado doing a similar shuddering in 2015. The dealership checked and said they could not duplicate the problem. I was pissed so I asked the shop foreman to come for a ride. He went through a series of starts and stops, cruising and accelerating, and said to me there was no issue. I asked to go up this particular long hill at 40mph, and there the shudder came on strong. He said "wow we've never saw a problem like this!" to which I said "maybe you should listen to the customer and their explanation of what is happening". They totally rebuilt the transmission including torque converter and $3500.00 worth of parts. Unfortunately the truck started acting up again shortly after, so I traded it in on a 2500hd.

My fix is still just to ride around town in 5th gear. My top speed is about 60mph and i don’t get the bog shudder on slight inclines like it does when i’m in D gear.
Out on the interstate where everyone cruises around 75mph i ride in D and the slight inclines don’t make it bog shudder because the rpms are around 2000.
After reading a lot about it i would guess that the problem has to be the Atkins cycle lower power and transmission gearing/torque converter aren’t seamless, and the computer doesn’t switch to Otto cycle on slight throttle increases because it wants to stay in “high gas mileage” mode.

Ive had this issue for a while on my 2019. I find it hard to believe its from a bad batch of TC's since its spread across multiple model years. Ive seen anywhere from 2017-2022s with this issue.
I personally think its engine related. Using higher octane fuel seems to make it less noticable but doesnt eliminate it for whatever reason.
I had the KDMax tune done a while ago and it did seem to go away for a while but then came back again.
It is an annoyance and I would like find a way to eliminate it.

dd light bars, trd cat back exhaust, KDMax tuned, trd skid plate, 2" lift, sema wheels toyo open country at3 tires.
seems like the cure is, below 60 mph, keep the truck in S4, or S5, whatever works for you. and or update the KDmax tune, to the pro 9.0, with lite throttle setting. it has almost totally eliminated my shudder issue. started with the normal throttle on the tune, and it work great for a few days, until the truck "learned" the new tune, and habits... then it came back but, not as bad. after reading a post on the tune forum, I switched to the lite throttle, and I have been on that for months, with almost zero shudder. give it a try.
