Saw one in person today. Kinda Ridgeline meets Colorado in the front.

Yes. I could list my truck for what I paid in 2015. It's ridiculous.

    I'll be going to a RHD 70 series Landcruiser ($8-12k) and a newer hatchback/wagon for a daily.

Where are you finding import 70 series for that price? At the start of the pandemic I was looking at 70 Series Prado’s and decent drivers were $12-15k. Now they are 20+.

Canada. There's a real nice one locally for $10k, 2LTE with the upgraded head. Our import law is 15 years so there's plenty here by now. Not as many people here want an old RHD truck either. The 70 series was sold here in the 80s so there's some LHD examples around still too!

Ahh. Buy one that is 22 years old, drive it for 3 years and sell it to an American for $5k more than you bought it for.

Buddy of mine owned a last gen Frontier - his '18 v6 averaged almost 19mpg pulling a 14' pop up trailer through Louisiana up into Arkansas to go camping. I was shocked.

Nissan got into the accessories game - Nismo bed rack, Nismo RTT, Nismo sliders:

Note the steel bumper doesn't have winch provisions. The rectangular space on the front face is for the radar. A license plate would cover the Nismo logo:

The chin bumper and boatside sliders look chunky and bloated. Wonder if the European design VP had a hand in the accessories?

I'm starting to lean toward the new Frontier. I had a 2018 Tacoma Sport with a 6 speed and only sold it to buy a Tundra. I needed the extra power to pull my 5K TT. The Tacoma struggled up hill and I had to rev the crap out of it. The 3.5l is just not a great truck motor. My 2020 Tundra pulled the TT like a champ but shortly after it developed a noise in 4WD that could be solved by the dealer. After six months of back and forth to the dealer and 2 months of not having the truck I ended up selling it to a different dealer for more than I paid. Problem gone. The plan is to buy the new 2022 Tundra when it becomes available. I needed a truck in the meantime. I found a low mileage 2013 Frontier SV long box that fit my needs. Bought it and took it on a 5K RV holiday. I'm actually quite impressed on how well it's doing pulling the TT. The 4l motor is much better that the Tacoma 3.5l. It has more torque and hills are not even an issue. I was so impressed I stopped by the Nissan dealer to check out the new truck. I reminds me of my 2018 Tacoma but with a more capable motor. The seating position is better in the Frontier. More room getting in and out. Also the cab is very quite with a very smooth shifting 9 speed auto. I'll wait until the Tundra comes out and decide between the two. Some of the things that I don't like about the new Tundra is the front grill styling and the start stop technology. Toyota customer service is a joke. Also I'm expecting the Tundra pricing will end up toward the 60K for a SR5 trim but will see.

Did you see the TFL video about that? I wasn't too impressed with the mods for the Fronty, but I did like the factory mods for the X-Terra and I was glad to see it's still getting support.

TFL also just did a real world off road test on the Frontier and it wasn't very impressive. Though, to be fair, I'm not sure a Taco would have done any better. Those stock tries are just too road biased.

Are you talking about the TFL off road test they did and compared it to a Bronco on 35" tires and 20K more in cost?

That was cringe worthy. One obstacle on the trail and they stick it in a crap line so they can say "Hur dur, it needs a front locker". Then they demonstrate by taking the Bronco up an easier line that wouldn't even require a rear locker.

I use to like watching TFL. Lately they have been making some pretty stupid videos.

It wasn’t a comparison. They explicitly said that in the video. Did you watch it?

Of course in did and I did hear them mention that but kept asking myself “so what the hell is the point of the video?”. Why didn’t they just do a comparison between the Tacoma Pro and the Nissan Pro4X?

I think they just wanted to demonstrate the usefulness of large tires and front lockers. I think Roman even said that.

Not going to lie, there really isn't too many new, obtainable vehicles that I like. The new frontier is one of them though.
