Thanks, I suppose I'll sleep a little easier for sure.

Rustoleum makes a rust converter spray on product can't remember what its called, but I keep a can of handy when working on my '99 wrangler. If I spot some frame rust, brush off the dirt and tag it with paint. It only works on rust so it is useless to put on before the rust appears, but it does a great preventing rot.

I have 350 miles on my truck and I have an appointment to have it krowned on Tues. (Forcasted high of 7f that day....great). I live someplace that salts almost daily.
My plan is to ride it out this season after I krown it and then wash every nook and cranny this spring, then apply cosmoline. Then have it krowned again in the fall before snow.
Where are you guys getting the cosmoline? It's on backorder on the site. https://www.cosmolinedirect.com/cos...39b2Z7r-PwW8V6wrRvL6n6Gz6LwpaDdBoCyhkQAvD_BwE

@skorp yeah, you're not going to find any Cosmoline readily available at this point. CRC is pretty much the same thing as far as i can tell though:

    https://www.amazon.com/CRC-06026-He...t=&hvlocphy=9004242&hvtargid=pla-568707703809

i ordered 6 cans of Cosmoline back in the summer. in November i started spraying down the undercarriage on my new truck and went a bit heavy. needed another can and a half to get the floor boards but CRC was all i could get on short notice. goes on the same, smells the same, tastes and sticks to your skin just the same (really - wear gloves)... it's the same.

I've used the rustoleum rust converter on metal i beams. it works well but you need to scrape any heavy rust scale away before applying it. Once it dries you can paint over it. I've seen the similar done with chassis on trucks, plus a goods coat of cosmoline afterwards.

I've bought cosmoline off ebay when they had a good deal on it, but the shipping could be a factor. Getting it direct from cosmoline generally was the best option.

Aha, I found this. Was done just before the guy traded it in (before I bought it).
