I ran it off the power circuit from the headunit. According to the install manual, this will work without issue. In about a year of operating I have had zero issue.

Very cool I was thinking of pulling one for it anyway since I need one for my powered sub. It's not much more effort to pull two wires through the firewall at the same time.

There is a thread here somewhere... a member did a pretty good test and I think the peak numbers were 17 watts. There is also the bass drop out at higher volumes. Even with amps and a sub above 25 it is noticeable.

Damn then the powerpack amp though small is a HUGE upgrade.
I have almost all the parts as of yesterday to get mine installed. I still need to work out a mount for the sub I already had. looking at taking out the left rear storage bin and seeing what I can do there.

Any good quality 6x9 speaker will work with the correct harness adapter. I am running Kicker DSC6930's in my doors. I am happy with them.

    edit: corrected model number

the most popular ones seem to be Kicker CS series 6x9 if in stock. If those aren't in stock the DS series is what I got, a little bit cheaper too. Or the more expensive KS if you are going to add some real power later.

Before the amp install, the volume would be at 20 windows closed, up to 45 with the windows open.

After the amp, it the volume sits at 5 or 10 and 25 with the windows down. It is quite the improvement.

So another question for anyone that has installed a subwoofer in the area behind the rear seat. About how much speaker wire length am I going to need? This would be from the center dash to the left rear storage area.

My powered subwoofer will connect to the left and right channels, I'm probably tapping the fronts.

I honestly know how much I used, I made up 2 twisted pairs that were about 24 foot in length. Then I ran them and cut off what I didn't need. I figure it was about 17 foot or so down behind the dash to the right sill, into the back behind the panel and to the amp mounted in the left pocket behind the seat.

Well this is the 3rd gen I have changed. I did not want to add an amp and I still don't.

2016 SR5 without JBL changed tweeters to what is on a Subaru WRX, yes they are the same, and then through Crutchfield changed front door 6 x 9 to Kicker and 6x 6 to Kicker. Sound was very crisp and alive with a good base. Maybe too much tweeter

2021 TRD Sport, without JBL only did not change the tweeters and sounds better. Spent less then $200 and very happy. When you look at the magnets on the OEM and then the Kicker you will understand why it sounds so bad.

That is about what I sort of thought. The amp wire kit I got only came with one 17' roll of wire. Looks like I need more.
I'm working on getting as much wired together was possible. Using them heat shrink tubes with solder in them. Did the wire harnesses for the anytime front and rear camera and they worked great.
