Sure thing, I’ve got a garage and a bottle of rust repair at the ready. Give me a PM anytime as I’m retired and generally available.

The frame weld joints on my 15 have surface rust in many places. Though my truck lives in a salt state and is 7 years old. They weld these frames together and don't clean the welds properly. The paint will flake off over time and cause surface rust. Fluid Film it yearly. It will stop the rust and repel water/salt.

As for the body paint peel and rust, I haven't seen that on such a new vehicle before.

    Wow. That's crazy.
You'd think they would have heard/felt the bolt rubbing when they put it together, and then flipped it around...
Looks like the gouge is pretty deep now.

I can't imagine you wouldn't notice that the second the shackle resisted the install. Nothing a few ugga duggas and a fuckit bucket couldn't solve, apparently...

I'm more annoyed than concerned about that though, since I do plan to install some hammer hangers within the next year or so. Still... shameful work quality from the shop.

Have you reached out to the shop yet? If they have any sense of decency, it seems like they should try to make this right. (Although I can see you not wanting them within 10 miles of your truck after this)

Next Monday the truck will be at a different shop to go over everything suspension related start to finish and fix whatever is found.

Once I've got the full damage report, I'll go to the original shop and see what can be done in terms of a refund. If they give me a hard time, I'm spiteful enough to take them to small claims -- especially since literally everything done to the truck since day one has been painstakingly documented.

Your assumption is correct though, they will never touch this truck again. They've done quite enough.

just an fyi, the bending of those panels up front is required to get that long uca bolt out...horrible design from toyota. This is the first time I've read or heard of someone possibly cutting the bolt and reversing it in place (not sure if that would be easier with the limited space you have in the wheel well). But every shop and video I've seen shows you this and tells you that's how you do it. And that bolt for the leafs, that's an oversight from the suspension manufacturer. Dobinsons is the same way and someone brought it up to their attention on here and it seems they fixed the bolt length because I've got about an inch or two before the bolt can touch the gas tank after doing my install last month. But after seeing that rust on the panel up front, I'm definitely going to check mine..because it was an absolute pita getting those bolts out and I ended up just having to man handle it without any worry of scratches. It also requires hammering the panels back in to straighten them out.

I'm not trying to defend that shops work at all. I'd be pissed too. But that uca bolt is the standard practice for removal.

Dang this thread. I just replaced my battery and am now convinced I tightened it too much and my engine bay is certainly soaked in battery acid.

Yea, I'm glad I saw this thread. I never thought about this happening so now I know when I replace this crummy battery to take it easy when tightening it down

I don't think the OP was upset about the panel bending, mostly about the battery leak caused by battery box being tightened down by a guy who must have done the oil drain plugs at Jiffy Lube in his previous job.

About the leaf bolt, I can see it a couple of different ways, but if I dropped over 2 grand for a shop suspension install, I'd want them to at least give me a heads up if a bolt in the kit seemed missized. When I do something myself, at least I know when something doesn't fit quite right and if I ignore it, I'm (at least subconsciously) accepting the consequences. Seems to me like shops should do the same, particularly when it's likely to cause some suspension noise. The shop I worked with to rebuild the 22re on my '90 was very communicative, I pretty much always went with their recommendations, but I liked being given the choice.

I ain't no expert by a long shot, but I believe the bolt is backwards, not a manufacture defect.
