Idk what happened with that build, but I’ve certainly talked to more people that have said there’s rode practically the same as before, if done right. I’m not going to run a heavy 12.5 wide MT tire. It will be a tad heavier, but shouldn’t be anything drastic like said above.

The answer is doing a lift right. I would take some of the ''rides the same with a lift'' you've heard with a grain of salt. My buddy imo, took the cheap way out with a rc 3'' kit...he was more concerned with looks than function while ending up with a truck that rode like an ox cart. Like anything it cost money to do it right. I only go fishing with my stock sr5 that might need 4wd to get to some areas, other than my road i live off is a challenge at times, plus it snows here.

Nice seeing an SR5 that looks like an Off Road, with the black wheel wells.

Unfortunately, you will suffer all of the above in mpg loss and slugginess with a 3" lift, and bigger heavier tires. Not to mention you may encounter, rubbing & vibration issues.

Myself, I settled on the 2/1" Bilstein 5100 lift with awesome 265/75/16 A/T tires. Basically the same lift as the OEM TRD 2/1" Lift.

Heavier tires will slow the truck down and hurt mileage. It's just simple physics.

I've gone from 35ish lb tires to 63 lb tires. Probably about 4 mpg drop.

Yeah it does look good! It Came off the lot like that, in reality I’m only wanting to go from 16 wheels to 17s, and most likely just go from a 265 tire to a 275, so whatever height clearance I would need to fit that.

As long as I’m not suffering a bit drop in power. Regear is always a option but would like to avoid it if I didn’t need to do it.

Also I’ve looked in to the TRD lift Toyota supply’s, but doesnt seem like a good deal to me. $2450 plus tax, uses stock coils, but get a OEM grille with it.I bought a aftermarket grille for $150 to try (so long as the sensor works most people don’t have issues) Toytec offers 2-3 inch lift, new coils, AAl, and new upper controls for $2400. Sacrificing the 12k warranty, but overall getting a better system.

I’ve got 2” lift with E load 33”s, RTT, and my truck drives smooth like glass. Still gets advertised fuel economy too.

I've gotten the toyota's lift brochure's in my mail, and circular filed them after a quick glance. I thought that was the dealer installed price, plus you get a warranty....can't remember for how long, but if toyota offers it, the lift must be reliable.

Thats amazing. My buddy did the rc 3'' lift with these aggressive 33'' mud tires from thailand, his power, fuel economy, and ride compliance when right down the crapper, but looking cool was more important. What got even funnier he got pissed off at the truck performance after blaming toyota for making a crappy truck. Well thats a done deal now. he's loves the power in his nissan, and thinks its cooler.
