Trying to make OP less paranoid lol. Im well aware not apples to apples but to provide some real examples of steel exposed to atmosphere and enviroment, galvinized, weathered, coated or painted or not. Sea going ships....list goes on.

Comparing large scale high demand, high load items using steel, steel alloys and to light duty Taco frames with one blemish or site of "rust"

Hopefully helps put mind at ease....

Just bite the bullet, and bomb it with a decent rust inhibitor. That will put the mind at ease.

Thanks for your reply and comment and encouraging words. But the bridge you are showing is really not a good way documenting that "RUST" is ok. this here on the bridge is "DESIGNER RUST". That is intentionally accelerated surface rust and then stopped and sealed. This actually preserves the steel longer, if done correctly. Not saying my rust on my truck is bad. It is concerning "TO ME", and I have the right to be concerned while for other peeps here I might sound as you said it "Paranoid". Fine, you can make your observations, although I find it a bit rude. And NOPE, not everybody knew about a systemic rust-fail on Toyota Trucks - I didn't, not on new trucks. Hey, it's ok. I thought Tacoma World is a nice place to go to in order to learn, share, and good quality bully-free courteous feedback. I am disappointed with about 60%. But, hey, it's a free country. May God bless you all! I could give a hoot about any of you rude people.

    Best wishes

Well, I expect it, because I refuse to believe that we as a society degrade ourselves into division, sinical attacks, and bullying. I believe we have much in common and we are all better than that. I have a thick skin, but I sure don't like it. I expect from such a great community to be courteous with each other. Heck, peeps, we have Tacoma's one of the greatest Midsize trucks of all time. Where I come from, people like us flash their high beams at each other on the road, or waive, when they see a fellow Taco Owner. Call me a romantic patriot of the greatest country in the world, and a culture like none other. I think we are funny people - come on, we love our trucks, and we even give them names, and mod them out even with stuff we never need. We do that, because it's fun and because we can. That's something we all have in common and that is why we even bother coming to such a great place called "Tacoma World". The least I want to expect is being bullying for my concern or paranoia no matter the so-called "times" we are supposedly live in. So what? It's my baby we are talking about. If I didn't love my truck, I wouldn't have it. I owned an F-150 before some time ago and others and will never go back. No other truck owners come together like we do here. We are just crazy cool people who could, if we realized that we have so much fun in common, treat each other nicely. I see it, and it happens, and people come out in defense and that is cool. Many people make great posts and offer great help. But I have to say it, it makes me sad that far too many people are not enjoying their truck fun anymore - you can tell on their nastiness, attacking each other, calling each other names. That's something I refuse to expect or call "normal".

    Thanks for listening.
    best wishes

I visited with Toyota ad they came back after consulting their peers, and then gave it to me in 'writing' that I can treat it any way I like too and it won't void warranty. They inspected it and then said "No Rust was found on body or frame". But verbally acknowledged that there is rust. They were at first defensive thinking I wanted to make a warranty claim. But I just wanted them to take a look at it and make TOYOTA recommendations. They recommendations they finally ended up making were in writing.

Just wanted to give an update.

You are a low life loser! human-kindness deficiency (HKF), unhappy creatures, you and your peers here who think it's funny to treat other people with so much disrespect, I pity you and really don't care if the TACO World Admin kicks me off because what I am replying here; there is no gain asking any questions, in this absolute hostile environment here, besides the few extremely nice contributors who made great suggestions what to do. To those latter ones, "THANK YOU - I see you on the road". To the losers here: I had no idea how much of the 'low-life Jail population has access to the internet from behind the barb wire.

I see one of the tie down brackets us cracked? Don't know whereabouts you live but that rusting doesn't look normal? What does the dealer say?

You are absolutely right with your comparison. There are good products available to treat, stop and seal a surface rust. Toyota themselves acknowledged to me that they had a serious problem in the past. They are still scared and nervous over that. They said the rust I have is NORMAL. Well, to them maybe, because their bias is, they want to avoid a warranty claim now or in the future and/or talk themselves into a liability. So they say whatever helps them, not the customer. But anyway, it was good I did what I did, and also good that I am trying to protect, prevent, and treat rust on the frame. Toyota said I should treat it, but refrained from making any kind of suggestions... well, actually the guest service manager suggested rubberized undercoating treatment, and then the Maintenance Service Manager said it is a bad idea to apply rubberized undercoat treatment especially before properly treating the rust that is already there. All good. I appreciate your reply and suggestions... The community here can be way unfriendly... Probably a deficiency in human kindness in general. I advocate for HK (Human Kindness).

Tie down bracket. can you point that out? I have not seen that? Thank you so much.

Toyota said in writing it was "NORMAL".... normal my - you know what. but ok, they said in writing that if I treat it with whatever it won't void warranty. The service record - after inspection, says "No rust found on body or frame".... Then I talked to them and showed them the pictures... How can they say "NO RUST" at all. I realized they just wanted to tie off all the loose ends so they reduce their liability. They are still in apparent shock and awe from the past rust claim experiences. So they call my rust "NORMAL". Fine, if that is considered normal. I do not argue with that. It's not acceptable nor 'normal' to me. I just want to treat it and asked them and this community here what to do and how to go about... Jesus was crucified by some of those people here.... my gosh, people can be mean spirited. But some of them made some really nice productive suggestions. And yours... I can't wait to hear back from you about the tie-down bracket... Please! I ordered CRC Heavy Duty Rust Treatment.

    Thanks
    Thomas

I think he’s referring to the second to last picture. I believe it’s the paint flaking along a weld seem. Wire brush and treat

Toyota wrote me an official email and said the rust is normal and I can treat with whatever, it won't void the warranty. That's what I am doing. They were very defensive, just by me asking for recommendation. They couldn't talk about anything else but the horrendous cost of changing out frames they experienced back in the day. Lawyered up, these guys, immediately. Such a poor customer service, in my opinion. But anyway, here we have it. THanks
